Afternoon all - SM run this morning and walked into town. Quite a few shops open but it was still very, very quiet. Maybe it will be different on a Friday and Saturday once the cafes start to reopen.

Chive - I hope you have a pleasant visit with some happy reminiscing for you and your mum. x

Debs - I coloured my own hair a few weeks ago because the greys were really showing up.  It's gone a bit brassy now (probably all the UV exposure) so I've just picked up some toner. If that doesn't work I'll have to book in with the hairdresser for her to sort it out when she's less busy. It's only hair - it'll grow out - eventually😬

LB - Hope your boilers all done now.  I have always tried to get boilers serviced, chimneys swept etc in the summer. The engineers are usually less busy and it's all less of a drama if something needs to be fixed or replaced and they have to wait for a part. Not many of us need the heating on at this time of year! Also means you're all ready to go when the weather turns cooler.

Chive, I hope you can share warm memories of dad with mum and family.  Sending my warm wishes.  LB hope the engineer has sorted things for you.  A blustery day today.  Topbird a touch of silver or a purple shampoo will get rid of the brassy tone.  I hope you find what you need.  Have a good day.

Thanks for the tip Rosie. I used to have a bottle of purple shampoo which was very effective - but my hands looked like they were covered in purple gunk every time I used it. I think this toner does the same thing by introducing lots of blue, purple and ash coloured pigments to the hair.
We'll see - no pictures if it all goes wrong and I end up with blue hair😜

Afties all. Ian, the gas engineer arrived about 11:30 He was a very pleasant young man. Rang me to let me know when he was arriving and stated he would need space. That was not going to be a problem. After he arrived, he put black nitrile gloves over another pair of yellow ones he had on. He popped into the kitchen to check where the meter was and spotted Lily (on my chair I might added) in the living room. He stopped and went across to say "hello" and she didn't run away. I was very impressed. He was here for about 30 minutes and once he had checked everything and let me know that my boiler was in great condition and still A rated, he retired to his van to do the paper work and told me I didn't need to sign anything, he would just post it through the door - which he duly did. He also showed me as he left that the black gloves had only been used in my house and he was disposing of them. It has never stopped raining but I've filled up the bird feeders and watched the non-stop shuttle of food to the new family.
T'Bird my hair is now long enough to put into a (little!) pony tail.

My third and final Streptocarpus has flowere. I had to wait for a while for all three different colours to appear.
The strep. is called Three Sisters and has 3 different coloured flowers on the same plant so it is, to me quite stunning. From the left there are flowers that are dark and pale purple, in the middle you can see the second colour flower - white and purple and the third 'Sister' is the white and rose pink flower on the right. Ignore that cheeky Harlequin peeking through and Lily's hairy window blanket. Ooh I've just spotted the dog walker!

LB I’m glad the engineer’s visit went well, praise to Ian, and good he had disposable gloves.  The streptocarpus is lovely.  You’re welcome Topbird hope it all goes well.
