Morning all, Just been out to do some watering before it gets too hot, but forgot to fill the bird bath so must go and do that. My sons wife put photos of him on our whats app chat out with their dog yesterday (in an open empty field behind their house) managing to walk without his crutch. I really never thought I would see him do this after all he has been through, my heart sings! I only wish I could hug him. Oh yes and there was another photo of him with their cat following along behind!
That must be a huge relief @floralies It can take a long time to recover from a rampant virus infection of any kind and this one seems particularly bad so he'll need patience but it sounds like he's on the right track.

Dunno @Dovefromabove. It depends on your neighbours' point of view. Our farmer neighbours find us odd because we spend time and money on making the garden safe and interesting for us, the dogs, two cats (theirs are all strictly pest control and not loved) and metered water to make it grow! We paid to have the pind cleared but not so cattle could drink and we built fences for the rose garden which they thought would be a dog pen.
She's very happy to come and pick our mimosa, lilac, wisteria etc for seasonal vases when she has family over for feasts. Has 2 huge pots of pelargoniums near the front door but hasn't a clue about other flowers that would take up space in her veggie beds. Brings me Brussels sprouts in exchange as she knows I don't like them and don't grow them for OH.
The rabbit was delicious! Duck and apricot tagine tomorrow and the duck legs have been rubbed with raz-el-hanout already.

Afternoon all, Glad to hear your son is improving @floralies it must be a great relief.
Rarely eat duck and couldn't eat rabbit, I'm very conservative in the meat I eat, apart from bacon sandwiches I think I could go veggie quite easily.
It's very hot here so I'm alternating some gardening with the occasional break in the sitting room which is alway really cool. Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.
Hello all. Must have forgotten to post this morning, thought I had. Lovely and warm and sunny here. We went to Tesco this morning, no queues. OH took his buggy.
We are off to tea with friends in our old village in their garden. See you later.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Today's excitement has been the water supply stopping at teatime. OH was in the shower when it dried up, thought it was me messing about! Service restored after about half an hour and there was room in the waterbutt for the flush-through water till it ran clear again.
Just had a balloon over which is the first of the year, not one of the big commercial baskets though, three people in a small basket. Edit - two more have just gone by with just one person hanging beneath each in a small seat! The sound of the burners always winds up the neighbours dogs.
Heard a crunching sound from the garden this evening and spotted the deer munching the windfall apples. She was really calm and wasn't bothered about the sound of the TV as we had doors and windows wide open to cool the place down.

@Obelixx ... it’s my long-held ambition to be a ‘quirky neighbour’ .... am I there yet? 🙃
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Wonderful news @floralies. I hope your son soon regains his energy and strength - it’s a long road but he has climbed mountains already.
Just done one of my favourite things - a bit of evening gardening! Ready for a cuppa and feet up now.
