Lol @Jacquimcmahon  😊 It’s funny how we end up doing what we do isn’t it?  My background was as a trained artist and arts administrator ... however many arts jobs tend to be project based so I did temping between projects... and one day I did some temping for a social work team working with children with severe disabilities ... and was hooked ... the complexities of the problems and the routes to providing the right sort of support for them and their families was fascinating ... I had some personal experience that meant I had transferable skills and having an MA meant that my education level enabled a ‘short cut’ to appropriate training and I found myself spending the last 15 years of my working life assessing need and monitoring care and support. It’s not a job I would’ve wanted to do all my life ... 15 years was enough ... I’ve attended more children’s funerals than most folk ... but I’ve been told by families that I helped them to enjoy their children ... and that’s a very rewarding thing to hear.

When , relatively poor, countries like Turkey and Vietnam get Track and Trace going pretty much straight away, it's shameful that 4 months down the line Bojo and his mates have failed .
How many deaths could have been saved if it wasn't for their collective egos saying " we know best" ?

    Hi all

At the moment i seem to sleep all day and lie awake all night. My body seems very confused.
Finally stopped raining and during my 3 week absence the garden seems to have started re-wilding. Sadly no gardening allowed for the next 2 months, so will need to get the under gardener under control.
Today might be a nice day for sitting outside and pointing.

@punkdoc, I know what you mean about no sense of time,  my dad was similar, consequence was, I was looking after him all day then keeping him company all night, just grabbing 10 minutes sleep here and there.

@Hostafan1 has been trying to train his under under gardener for years 😀

Mine has actually come on a fair bit during lockdown altho he still makes the odd blunder.   We have a large expanse of weed infested pink volcanic stony gravel stuff behind the house with 3 beds marked out in bigger, creamy coloured stones.   One small bed has a wee lilac tree and loads of weeds.  The soil is poor despite loads of compost being added since we arrived so I planted ground cover sedum.   Nevertheless it has been invaded by couch grass which he has helpfully weeded out, including a recently planted sedum with copper foliage.   Not too big an oops tho as it turned out the flowers were yellow, not pink, and I do dislike copper with yellow.

Bit bemused by two healdlines in French papers yesterday - one describes how the city of Nantes is turning all its public planting schemes to fruit and veg this year so that people in deprived communities can a) have free food and b) share the growing process and improve their sense of community and belonging.   Many of those who benefit will be immigrant women so it'll be a great boon to them and their families.

The second is about a recently established permanent, undercover flea market set up in a former fabric shop in Les Sables d'Olonne - think Bournemouth with sandy beaches and French style as it has a large retirement community.  They have announced the first ever nudist flea market in France to be held on a Sunday in July.   I have to wonder where they'll keep their money and just how wrinkly it will be.

Won't be going to find out.

Not so worried about where they’ll keep their money
as where they’ll keep their fleas ..... 🤪

Bear with it @punkdoc ... It’ll settle. Try to keep to a fixed routine. Sleep pattern disruption is very common after hospital and especially after ops ... it’s possibly one of the aspects of hospitalisation that medics manage to stay unaware of 😉

As for the training of Undergardeners ... lounging in a comfy chair with a mug or glass of something consoling whilst waving a 7’ bamboo bean cane in the direction of the weeds has been found to be effective in Norfolk. 😉

Must try that @Dovefromabove, the only trouble with that is I would have to keep moving my chair around our large garden or get a very long cane!  :o
