@Marlorena That looks so lovely! It looks more white than light pink as opposed to what’s shown on DA’s website.. and DA calls it medium-strong in fragrance.. considering how early they produced buds.. when did you get the first bloom this year?

As you know I’m very scent driven. What would you say is your favourite strongly scented patio-type roses?

I have noticed that patio type roses with their smaller leaves seem to tolerate windy conditions very well thus my interest in growing them.

Adrian,.. some blooms are light pink, but they turn white quickly, and I got the first bloom on April 12th this year..

… you might consider 'Chandos Beauty' for your patio collection.. the leaves are large though and glossy... my plant has stood up to recent weather ok, one torn leaf...
I haven't grown many, these are not usually my type of roses, so I'm trying some new ones myself this year, mostly imported though..
...I'd like to see you try a rose called 'Frances Dubreuil'.. available from Beales… the scent will knock you out, but it's a tricky one, and I think you're the man to give that a go... it is a dark red/crimson rose... healthy enough for me when I had it.. and I'd like it back again.. if it wasn't for this lockdown I would have had another by now..

    ...both above suitable for pots..

...such a pretty bud, yellow with a pink layer, like a Battenberg cake...on this 'Liverpool Hope' rose,

...this nice Lavender bloom on 'Terra Limburgia'... an imported rose bred in Belgium.. light scent..
    vigorous and very healthy..

'Wild Rover'... strongly scented of cloves or apple spice today...

They both look lovely.. and now you’ve me intrigued about Francis Dubreuil.. especially with that statement about its scent. I don’t think I will be getting anymore roses this year (as I need to figure out how to create more space)  but I’ll be adding them to my list for next year - perhaps as bare roots. It would nice for me venture beyond just David Austin roses 😛

    ..yes good idea Adrian..

...well, I'm liking this 'Aquarell'/'Perfect Harmony' rose more and more.. I think it's rather delicious, and lovely summery colours.. like a Spanish Flamenco dancer's frilly dress, something like that.   The blooms are large, and scented...

    ...photos this evening..

I like how the bloom changes with time. I like colour changing roses and I like the dark edges. I would like it more without the yellow centre but I don't mind the pink/yellow combination and it looks cheerful.

It's growing on me Marlorena, I too, like the way the colours are changing.

Thanks for the advice on growing Parahebe Avalanche from cuttings. I bought this plant back in February as I'd seen your pictures  of it last year and liked it. It has just started flowering now and is very pretty. I would like a couple more of these for my longest border so will be taking cuttings tomorrow morning.
I'm liking your Bathsheba rose and clematis combination . Today I went to my favourite garden centre for a look around and to buy a new trowel. It wasn't very busy and was well set up for distancing.
As always I was drawn first to the vast rose section. A few impressed me with their scent. Chandos Beauty was intense, Deep Secret was divine , Sweet Honey(?), the rose of the year is deep and has a hint of honey about it but is very prickly, right up to the blooms. I was charmed by the rose The Duchess of Cornwall, it had loads of buds and the blooms that were open had a lovely scent and were a beautiful form. It had good foliage also. I didn't buy it today, I wanted to research it more first, and  I need to see if I can make space in my garden for a couple more roses. There are a few clumps of stuff not worth their space  really .
Not many Austins left in their section. I liked the scent of Boscoble a lot, and Grace was gorgeous . I wanted Eustaycia Vye really but they'd sold out of that one,
It was good to see in the flesh, and sniff many of the roses I've  seen discussed on here. I even saw Warm Welcome and its a stunner. A few people had Rhapsody In Blue in their trolley. There was also a  stand of new roses suitable for cutting. The Timeless Purple one was very popular, had a lovely flower form and rich scent, nearly bought one myself.
