I love Vanessa Bell when I saw her last summer at DA’s rose garden.. it’s on my to get list for sure. I also love the scent.. the blooms look deeper shade of yellow in your photos from what I remember though. I am currently torn between Vanessa Bell and The Country Parson as they’re both pale yellow.. I know I like Vanessa’s scent for sure having experienced it in person but I don’t know what the country parson’s like.. a part of me thinks given it’s a newer variety it should be better? Anyway I’m glad that I don’t have to make that decision till next year.

..thank you, that's nice of you to say so.. and thanks for checking in here... always pleased to see anybody who passes by, so to speak...

….you really want Vanessa Adrian, remember The Country Parson is a right thorny so and so.. they couldn't release that rose when they wanted because they could not propagate enough plants quickly because of its prickly nature - very difficult to handle -... a rose for a wilder type garden I think.... Vanessa doesn't have that many thorns really to worry about too much...

...thanks for looking in here, nice to see you... yes your roses will be fine in the acid soil you have near azaleas... don't bother with testing kits for that.. just go right ahead and get what roses you like...
...do let us know which ones you get...

So lovely to see your Notes thread back Marlorena, always gorgeous roses and I really enjoyed your rose history bits too, last year. More of that too please, of you feel the urge/have the time!

Love all those Rose pictures you have posted , your garden must smell heavenly.
I have a few DA roses myself and I love them. I have Brother Cadfael, Charlotte (which hasn’t been too successful) , and Tranquility, which we planted in memory of our much loved little Westie.

..oh thank you @Terry29  and for looking at this thread.. I used to have Tranquillity.. I would love Brother Cadfael as it doesn't have many thorns I believe... what a nice thing to do in memory of your dog... the ashes of one of mine is propping up one of my roses too..

@Terry29, that's a nice gesture for your Westie. We did the same thing when our much loved little cat died, he was black & white so we planted a 'Little White Pet' rose.

@Marlorena, what beautiful roses you have, the Ancient Mariner has gone to the top of my wish list. It’s nice to see the other plants you grow as well, I especially like the lavender tulips. I will look forward to seeing more of your lovely photos.
