Mary, you are going to be so disappointed in my rose... I, on the other hand absolutely love it... I did not check previous images of this rose, so had no idea what it was going to look like when fully open,.. but I don't think it's your type of rose.. typically these days, it's a classic DA look-a-like rose, very similar to one they have called Port Sunlight..
'Liverpool Hope'... from Peter Beales Roses.. bred by their in-house hybridiser Michael Baldwin... and a winner for me .. sweetly scented too..
'Ghislaine de Feligonde' looks better every day... if anyone wants to grow this rose, it will grow to double this size or more... I prune it back quite hard each year..
...this pure white Alba is 'Mme. Legras de St. Germain'... it would normally be much larger than this, but first year in a pot, maybe half size.. very sweetly scented, once blooming and mostly thornless..
I must admit I love any flower with a scent, even the weedy looking night stocks......I do feel somewhat self indulgent and a little guilty that my HT Rose's aren't feeding the bees. Going in buy a few open flowered Rose's in the Autumn....... ease my conscience lol
..this is 'Eugene Furst'... a hybrid perpetual from the 19th C.. blooms again late summer.. sweet damask fragrance, one of the strongest scented roses of this colour and type..
@Marlorena Wonderful thread and garden as always. How do you rate Gabriel Oak against Eustacia Vye, in terms of scent and bloom quality/ repeat. As I'm looking to purchase one of the other
@Jason-3 ...thank you Jason... I like both roses equally so I would choose on which colour appeals more... Gabriel does lighten in hot weather, turning more pink, very similar to Princess Anne, but with a better scent. I like him best in cooler weather when the colours are darker and more sumptuous... Eustacia I think has better foliage and if I had to choose I prefer the scent on Eustacia... but it's early days, I've only had them a year and they are not even semi mature..
Sorry I can't make up your mind for you because you need both, right ?...
