    ...just to add, it's possible those spoilt blooms, both on Silas and Carmen Wurth, could be caused by fertilizer burn, which would be my error...I admit to being a touch heavy handed with it this Spring...   so it's not fair for me to be too harsh at this stage...  I'll reserve judgement...

    ...I suspect this is my mistake - an example of what happens when you over fertilize roses..
    ...I've just checked the labels... I have had to use a new fertilizer this year because I couldn't get my usual.. now, it's actually very good, if used correctly and in moderation,  but I have just realised I've been using it at 3 times the strength I should have..  my poor roses.. they are not to blame..

    ...however, my other roses seem unaffected, so maybe they escaped the worst excesses...

    Interesting, Marlorena. Whatever it is, I will watch my Silas more carefully. We can't be sure from a couple of first blooms. My Scepter'd Isle was really bad in rain last year and is without problems this year. One of my HTs balled in spring but not in summer, even when it was rainy. My Olivia doesn't open well, even in dry weather, but I think it's just a lack of maturity, she should be good here.

    Never mind, all will be well..

    'Wildberry' a Tantau rose.. I was promised scent, but not getting much so far but it has stood up to heavy rain today..

    ...this is how you tell a rose has recovered from rose replant disease... a strong basal..

    @Marlorena, you seem to have a fine geranium collection!
    Where do you buy your geraniums from?

    @gutties
    ...most of mine came from Plantsman's Preference nursery... some from garden centres... I pick them up all over really, but that nursery is especially good for choice..

    I wonder what has been wrong the last few days.. I thought perhaps the site had been hacked or somesuch… funny how you miss sharing roses, and seeing what everyone else has too...

    Hi Marlorena, it's good to be back. I've acquired three new roses whilst we've been down. My first Peter Beales rose arrived, a very impressive, healthy looking "Dusky Maiden" complete with three beautiful blooms and many buds. Potted up and already new shoots have appeared. I also purchased "Ballerina" from a garden centre for only a few quid, would this be the same rose DA and Beales sell for much more. I also bought my first HT called "Timeless Purple" no buds yet, but growing well.
