Brother Cadfael is a lovely Rose , long flowering and the most wonderful scent, I am quite often caught out in the garden with my head in the rose bushes taking it in.
...some lusciously scented reds and purples this evening... 'Marie Nabonnand'... [clg hybrid tea/noisette 1838] 'Gloire de Ducher'.. [Hybrid Perpetual 1889] 'Wild Rover' [clg floribunda on arch] ..always dark and handsome... no need to say the name..
..some significant others.. ..first flower on clematis 'Niobe'.. I like this ménage a trois... Parahebe 'Porlock'..Erysimum 'Golden Jubilee' Calif poppies.. Geranium x cantabrigiense 'Hillary Rendell'... similar to Biokovo.. Geranium sanguineum 'Matt Frei'.. Geranium cinereum 'Subcaulescens'... Sedum 'Autumn Joy'.. I don't do Chelsea Chop..
Lovely to see this thread back, it always brings a smile to my face. Can I ask you, how long you are working on this garden? Thanks for the inspiration.....
@Mary370 ...thanks Mary, and for stopping by here, nice to see you again... I have a few new hybrid tea roses that you might like... more later on these... one I'm really excited about.. ...I've been here 11 years Mary, started from scratch as there was nothing here... I don't do much now other than plant new roses.. I've just put half dozen in that were potted... I really just potter about mostly as I have domestic issues to attend to as well, so not always as much time as it may seem..
..I've also been battling this stuff for 11 years organically and this is the first year that I've had results... I used to spend half hour every day from Apr - August trying to deal with it, now it's maybe 2 minutes a week... so constant removal has worked so the weed never photosynthesises... I know it'll never go, it's everywhere here underground, but I now have it to a level that doesn't harass me too much... I admire it really, and actually it is said to have fungicidal properties that can prevent black spot in roses.. it must be useful for something..
Field Horsetail... often mistakenly referred to as Mare's Tail which is an aquatic plant..
...if you ever go property hunting and see that in the garden... give the place a swerve...
I try to take my photos early morning or late evening... darker colours, richer, less glare.. but it's cloudy today so not such an issue.. Here are some more of the same as they get better each day..
'Anne Boleyn'.. this is actually a group of 3 for a fuller effect. Half flush at the moment.. 'Bathsheba'... I like the richness of tones we get here.. in warm climates this rose turns pink.. and I don't like that too much.. ..the yellow single is 'Tottering-by-Gently' just opening up.. it's nearly 6 foot tall..
@Marlorena you have a stunning garden, I can't get enough of your rose pics! I'm curious how many Desdemona's and GJ's did you plant together in that pic in your first post? I usually just buy one of each rose, but I love the look of your Desdemona and Gertrude Jekyl border. Mind you, I've not had much luck with GJ, but would love to buy one or two more of Desdemona to add some ooohmp to the one I've already got. How closely together do you plant them?
I also love Vanessa Bell. Bought Vanessa Bell and Imogen last year to bring some neutral tones to my rather colourful garden. Both are only in their infancy, so need a couple more years to get to their best, but so far both are looking very healthy and full of buds.
Amasing how far ahead your Munstead Wood is to mine, mine is full of buds, but none look close to opening yet even though it's in a sunny sheltered border.
