@Marlorena as you grow a fair number of roses in pots, how do you organise watering? Do the roses get a bit of a wet-dry cycle, do you check individual pots, or do they all get a splash at the same time without too much fussing?

...thanks for the question...  I water them all on the same day and I always add a small amount of food to the water... at the moment liquid tomato fertilizer [tomorite]… with occasionally some water soluble acid fertilizer as my water is so hard, and if I don't add this, the foliage turns chlorotic..
...a little and often is what I do... so every other day usually...  DA roses with their huge blooms and masses of foliage, need tons of water... they are gross water hogs and cannot be allowed to dry out, to get the best out of them... it's worth it though..

Thank you @Marlorena and the roses look gorgeous. I have a weakness for the singles and semi-doubles and fragrant roses at the same time, for some reason I was not aware of 'Scented Garden'. Very tempting. The water soluble acid fertiliser is very good to know, I am in the same position regarding water hardness. Tottering by gently is about to get its first bloom here, eagerly awaiting it. And perhaps I should give Claire Austin some more love, that is, water. I try to minimise watering as much as possible but I can see she is struggling a bit, makes sense. We've gone from sun to wind, and the predicted thunderstorm did not materialise yesterday. Let me know if you'd prefer to keep this thread clear from ramblings such as this one, I realise this is already 2 out of 10 posts on a page, which would ideally just be dedicated to roses.

… I absolutely love Tottering.. mine is in its 2nd year and it will only get better, yet it's fast becoming a complete favourite.. it's no ordinary single...
...oh I don't mind ramblings, it's usually all about roses or something connected... all good by me..

...incidentally, if anyone has a rose that needs a kick up the xxxx… I do recommend this product... Maxicrop sequestered iron with seaweed...  I had a young Desdemona rose that was doing absolutely nothing.. I had moved it and it was almost half dead.. I thought I might remove it to cut my losses, but gave it a root drench with this... it started to shoot out after a couple of weeks before the warm weather arrived, and of course some warm weather has helped recently, but it's even got buds now...

...I realise this is advertising, but I have no connection to any of these groups.. but apart from Miracle gro 7-3-5 or similar.. which doesn't last long with me...and I always run out... I use these..

..I think this is essentially organic chicken manure with extras... it's very good... it does stink of poultry but my first choice for general rose feed... Vitax Azalea is essentially the same stuff I think..

..I love this multi purpose compost.. it's expensive... Bathgate Champions Blend.. and despite what 'Which' says, I think it's brilliant, and use it for planting new roses and mixed into pots.. it contains Remin..

@micearguers I bought 'Scented Garden' last year on Marlorena's recommendation. That rose is like a miracle - absolutely disease free and growing vigorously in a suboptimal semi-shady spot. I'll post photos in the rose thread probably this weekend or early next week (it is behind Marlorena's).

...it's taken us both by surprise hasn't it?  I wasn't expecting anything much,.. taking a chance so to speak... but what a winner !..  it should be better known..
