@StillLearning ...for a white rose of that height and width, you might like 'Prosperity'... it is rather thorny, but it forms an upright vase shape.. the scent is good so I'm told - I don't have it.. it blooms summer and autumn... obviously it will take a while to reach those proportions.. but I would think within 3 years... I'm growing Souvenir de St Anne's which also grows to that height, and is wonderfully scented, but it's only a semi double bloom form.. and they don't last long on the bush.. Another is 'Blush Noisette' which I've shown above, which starts out pink but quickly turns white... overall it's a white rose, forms 6 x 5 foot upright and blooms all summer.. strongly scented apples/cloves which wafts... it is one of my favourite roses, quick growing, healthy, needs little attention, and just gets on with it.. forms an impressive large shrub quickly...
..have you considered a Standard rose for your space? a standard 'Desdemona' would fit your bill too.. ..
...I would only plant one of these roses and surround with smaller ones or other plants..
Thanks @Marlorena so spoilt for choice in a lovely way..... The Hampton Court show fingers crossed may still go ahead later this year so could be a place to hunt out your recommendations 🤞😎
...that's ok... if you see another one you like and are not sure about it, you are always welcome to ask anytime... those are from the top of my head..
.. my camera has a mind of its own, so I keep telling myself, so it's been extra busy I'm afraid.. ...some beautiful buds to show.. 'Chawton Cottage'.. a new climbing rose from Harkness Roses... ...this is 'Floral Fairy Tale'.. 'Anne Boleyn' again, showing that essential group of 3 for smaller roses... ...seen through Stipa gigantea.. 'Tottering by Gently' on the right... .. massive clusters on 'Blush Noisette' this rose is multi functional... large shrub, climber or rambler... will grow anywhere, and through anything @Nollie
...some gorgeous purples again.. 'Gloire de Ducher'... not the healthiest rose but I take no notice of that.. lovely damask fragrances...
..this is 'Amethyst Star' again.. [aka Special Brother].. I'm becoming impressed with this sweetly scented rose.. almost thornless, and great foliage, large and fresh green.. 'Wild Rover'... early blooms are on the top.. ..a couple of general scenes... I'm very sparse on annuals and companions this year due to lockdown..
..this is an old photo of 'Blush Noisette' when I had it trained rambler style on trellis, surrounding a porthole feature.. it's the same rose as shown above - I moved it later..
Marlorena, I've been wondering if you have any photos from your previous gardens or maybe from the early years of this one? Maybe some before&afters or a young rose and the same rose years later?
@edhelka ..hi edhelka.. thanks for stopping by... ..I have a few.. this is an old one from years ago.. very faded... the rambler on the arch is 'Alexandre Girault'.. on the arch further back I had 'Sanders White'.. I had 6 arches in this garden in Cornwall..
...these 3 are from 3 different years in my current garden... the first is before the roses took over... sometimes I prefer this type of garden, but that was then.. about 2014 I think.. ...then gradually it changed.. ...and became this... oh well...
