@cats_and_dogs ...hi, and thanks for looking in at my garden today... very kind of you too.. ..I don't have Gertrude Jekyll rose... the one you probably mean is 'Anne Boleyn'... I have 3 Desdemonas... I moved a couple in the winter and they are in 'recovery'.. seriously did not like being moved.. I just took this pic of Vanessa Bell... the blooms are huge this morning, and this rose is nothing like the puny thing I had in the first year...
@Marlorena - sorry, my bad, I got my Gertrudes and Annes mixed up! I was wondering how come your GJ is growing so much shorter than your Desdemona as in my border they're the same height, but as it's actually Anne Boylen that explains it ! Is Anne Boylen fragrant at all? Looks lovely next to the Desdemona! That's another rose on my "roses I would like to have" list...list is getting very long since I discovered this forum and all the lovely rose pictures
@cats_and_dogs ...yes it's fragrant, not sweet, more musky type... there are so many we would like to have aren't there?..
..some more pics from today.. 'Gloire de Ducher'... a hybrid perpetual.. ..I like strong, hot colours.. 'Amethyst Star'.. a fragrant, almost thornless rose.. 'Boufarik'.. last bloom from its first flush.. 'Blythe Spirit'.. a lesser known Austin rose..
...more of 'The Ancient Mariner' today... 'Tottering-by-Gently' flowers like little butterflies atop the stems.. 'Cornelia' a hybrid musk rose with Allium 'Mount Everest'...
..let me see what I have for this morning... such a sunny warm day, hope it is where you are if looking in here ... 'Zephirine Drouhin'.. as part of a fedge... 'Blush Noisette'... apple scented... 'Vanessa Bell'.. this morning.. 'Reine des Violettes'.. a thornless Hybrid Perpetual of old... first bloom on a young rose.. 'Tottering-by-Gently' is no ordinary single yellow... I have fallen totally in love with this charming rose to grace our gardens..
Geranium x riverslianum 'Russell Prichard'... very long flowering season.. ...sunny colour... ..two Alliums standing like sentries.. .. a favourite pairing..
Simply beautiful Marlorena! I’m particularly interested in Vanessa Bell and Tottering by gently as they are on my list to buy when our back garden gets its makeover. Sadly its delayed now due to the pandemic but hey ho......☺️
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
You have Beautiful roses!!!!, is there a rose around 6ft x 5ft white with a strong scent? would prefer one that flowers for most if not all of the summer and bee friendly? The area is approximately 3 metres wide would you put in 2 or 3?
I have book marked and looking forward to seeing your roses throughout the year
