Really love the pics of all these hostas, I have 3 in pots in my backyard but feel inspired to get more now. In fact I like most of the ‘H’s....hostas, heucheras and hellebores 😊

I have bought 4 new black troughs that are permanently in shade.  I'm thinking of planting each of them with a fern Dryopteris Erythrosora and would like to plant a small hosta in each of them and wondered what you might suggest as I'm no expert.  I have a couple in the garden don't do too badly re slugs. I would probably add a white begonia during the summer.

Another unnamed one, only planted it last year after having it in a pot for a few years. I was slightly worried it would get decimated but so far so good.
Some gorgeous Hostas on here, love the stained glass and cute little ones.
Thanks for the pic of minuteman @Dovefromabove, beautiful! Mines just starting to come through.
Wow, didn’t this thread get big, I’ve just read though all of it 😊

I’ve seen H. Sum & Substance in a woodland setting and it’s a rather boring mid green colour ... planted in a sunny spot and it’s a striking acid yellowish green colour.
If anyone is interested, my photo on page 5 of this thread has a large sum and substance in a shaded bed woodland settin (behind the halcyon, if you're looking). I actually prefer the green of the shaded plant, I have one in half sun and don't like the yellow tint as much!

That’s a much better green than mine was @strelitzia32 😊 Maybe mine wasn’t happy there.
