    I bought them at an independent GC near Bude. I guess they've had longer to grow whilst everywhere has been shut

    This year the Sum and Substance has done really well. Flower shoot also appearing!

    @Hostafan1

    I’ve got ‘Fire & Ice’ which is  a reverse sport of ‘Patriot’ .

    One in our garden which we like but don't know the name of. It is 35 cm wide and 25 cm in height.

    A couple of my potted hostas are getting too happy and outgrowing their allotted space. Sheltered east facing.
    Would they be ok if I moved them to a place where there would get full midday sun or will I have to move them somewhere with a bit more shade? I'm happy to keep them watered - so far.
    I'm fairly new to growing hostas but the mother in law has quite a few in her garden. They're in the ground but exposed in a windy area with full sun and they're massive.

    Make of that what you will.

     :(  I ordered my first ever hosta today (sum & substance) and was really excited until I've just read they're poisonous to dogs and category of which I own..... Do I need to be worried?

    If you own that rare type of dog and/or cat that eats greenery in your garden indiscriminately, then I’d either erect a fence or not grow Hostas.

    I have been gardening over 60 years and kept dogs for a large part of that time ... none of them ever ate hosta leaves.

    But you are the human who is responsible for your pets ... you have to make your own decision. Perhaps your vet could advise?

    How many dogs are poisoned by eating hostas? I've never heard of a single case
    Devon.
