I always associate Chelsea with Peonies, @Hostafan1 . I remember hearing a gardener, possibly Geoff Hamilton years ago saying that he had never seen one of his own best specimens because it always flowered when he was away at Chelsea and finished by the time he got back.Â
'Staff meeting' today so probably not much gardening will get done. Then next week I really need to start getting prepared for opening, food ordered, menu finalised, marketing push, including writing a radio advert etc. And ordering all the PPE stuff required, not an inexpensive exercise.Â
It's still a few weeks away but I think the 26th of June is going to come around very quickly. Just screwing the legs on 15 new tables is going to take a while and I remember getting some new chairs for the terrace last year and taking the wrapping off took ages, it was sellotaped in several places around each leg - I've got 30 coming.Â
Have a good day all, oh and look forward to pix of the Agapanthus @Hostafan1. My 1st Lily opened yesterday , considering I moved them all just two months ago and feared they would sulk I am very pleased. Cheesecake for the meeting made too, anyone for a slice? .Â

hi everyone.  Iâve actually made the effort to read through the last pages of thread so that when we change over to June, I wonât miss any news.  đ
I canât get over how quickly June has arrived? This is the month that I turn 80! Â Makes me feel OLD. Luckily I feel well. Â Hubby and the two kids a trying to arrange some sort of get together in Canberra, but Iâd rather wait until there is a vaccine for the virus. After all, our grandson had to forego his 21st part in April.Â
Oooh @Pat E ... we could have a Virtual Party đ„ł for your birthday ... when is it?  Will @D0rdogne_Damsel âs new deck be ready by then?  we could combine it  with an Opening Party ... that way we can be sure of lots of cake đ and đŸ đŸ đŸÂ
We havenât had a Forkersâ Party for ages and ages!

Ooh - lots of appropriate cake then @Pat E It's a shame it won't be the event you hope for, but better to be safe. I'm sure you and hubby will have a lovely time, regardless x I know @Hostafan1 will already be away at work, but I had to laugh at the last bit of his post.... I just wish some of our hills were a wee bit nearer. We can only travel around five miles just now, although there will of course be the usual waarmers who'll ignore it all, like those idiots last weekend. The only 'hill' within reach of me is the little one at the windfarm, and it's not really a hill as such. Still - it might have to do. I know what you mean about those wrappings @D0rdogne_Damsel. I appreciate the need for protection, but when you consider the plastic waste, you wonder just how keen some companies are to address it. Our excellent prog up here [Landward] had an item the other night about the hideous mess at the Arrochar end of Loch Long. Due to the currents and tides etc, huge quantities end up there. It's a vile blight on one of our most beautiful areas.Â
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I'm glad to hear you're doing well, @Pat E That's a milestone birthday, for sure, but also it's just a day and another day will do to celebrate if you would feel more comfortable - it's your party so miss it if you want to Â
Really sorry to hear @punkdoc s taken a turn for the worse - get well soon and ((hugs)) to Moira.Â
Families - my Mum and I were close in the sense that we were friends and spoke to each other by phone at least once a week (Saturday mornings, often for an hour, usually about our gardens - Sundays were when she spoke to her eldest sister, also often for an hour or more). Geographically, once I left home I never got closer than 120 miles away (which is where I live now) and for most of the time it was more like 200 miles. So had she still been here, to not have seen her for a few months would not be strange. After she died, when Dad was alone and after he went into a Home, I tried to get down to see him at least once a month and usually every 2 weeks. He rang me once during that time, when I hadn't been down for 6 weeks - so I know he was counting on me coming (he couldn't actually talk, so I generally didn't ring him). If this had happened while that was going on it would have been much more difficult. The point of families is that you help when things are hardest and to not be able to go to those who are struggling is so difficult. Luckily now I've got no one to worry about. There's only the in-laws and they have been sulking about something for a couple of years (don't ask me, I've no idea) and the only contact is birthday and Christmas cards. I suppose they'll tell us if they need us.
@Hostafan1 It's odd - my alliums are only just getting into their stride. The agapanthus are bulking up well but not budding yet. We must be a fair bit colder than you.
Not today though - lovely blue skies. I need to find something I can pot my tomatoes into - no compost in any GCs around here.

Thanks for the idea Fairy and Dove. 22 nd (or as my dear old Mum used to say, the shortest day) . Yes I know, some people say it is 21st, but Iâll stick to Mums belief. Â Looking forward to a virtual party.đ
I might be struggling with my toms too @raisingirl, and I don't fancy queuing in this heat either. I'm hoping the nursery I go to might have some if it's open, but I'll wait a bit. I have sweet peas and clems needing to go in as well. Might have to go and dig up some of the soil in the front garden.....
