Sadly I can't drink any wine from anywhere these days as I have Histamine intolerance, and wines now are a no no. Gin and apple juice I can tolerate as it has a different fermenting process from the grain.
The thing I find difficult with French wine is its inconsistency from one year to the next. Yo really need either to have a good wine merchant (we are not the cellar keeping types) or you have to know a lot about the terroir (often tiny), the weather they've had and thus weather the flowers and grapes have been cold, cooked, thirsty and almost which socks he wore when he trampled his grapes. Too much faff!
There are a few wines I like from France but they tend to be over priced these days and I like a few wines we've tried from places like Cahors where it's "new" and they're trying hard to improve their product. In fact, those wines do well with North African, Mexican, Thai, Indian, Sr Lankan recipes be they fish, poultry, pork or lamb. Hardly ever eat beef. However, stocking levels are inconsistent so we tend to migrate between those when we find them again or Chile, Argentina, Oz and Morocco.
Never seen NZ wine here tho I do love a bottle of Lindauer - far better than Champagne as are Freixenet, Cava and Prosecco for a fraction of the price for a French anywhere near as good.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

My husband is binge watching yet another ancient battle saga. A number of things have occurred to me. If I was a king leading my troops into battle, i wouldn't wear a crown on my head. You might as well have a bullseye on your head saying shoot me. Did soldiers always have a shave before battle? Have you noticed that when chaps get shot or skewered or whatever, there is very little if any blood. I suppose they dont want the costume covered in blood. 5 retakes. 5 costumes. For the same reason chaps don't sweat a lot in films unless they're wearing cheap shirts Battles are often fought in the dark. Saves on scenery Actors don't often face the camera when they're speaking. Makes dubbing easier.
B3, mine has become adicted toG ame of Thrones, I watched about 30 seconds that was enough, I am in the kitchen, there were certain "noises", I said "Is that woman having sex or being tortchered", (sorry abou spelling, not a word I often use!!) he said both!, definitely way too graphic for my liking, and so violent, he says it no worse than me watching Line of Duty
I enjoy watching crime drama, but some police officers have been poorly trained in the use of car sirens and blue lights. I think they are meant to warn other road users to get out of the way. Yet on TV they are used when driving across bleak moorland roads where there is not another vehicle in sight. Also they are not taught to turn them off when approaching the crime scene, so the ne'er-do-wells are warned of their approach and have their weapons at the ready when the police burst in.
Then there's noises in space films . Then there's the baddies chasing the stage coach. Shoot a horse. Game over. Period dramas where everyone is clean when most of them should look more like Baldrick. Period dramas with no horse💩 on the street. American dramas where the love interest characters' skin tones are carefully colour-matched

I'd always noticed how well shaven cowboys are in films and such well tended laundry.
You never see dirty cars in period stuff either. They're always gleaming and in perfect condition. You never see any with dents in them. ( remember that "gone back to nature" garden at Chelsea last year with the old car in the garage, not a speck of dust on the car.

My sister bought the series on audiobook and let me have a copy. Picture George RR Martin writing the sex scenes with 80+ year old Roy Dotrice acting them out as the narrator doing all the noises and moaning. Seriously sexy stuff...
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
