I'm glad you're pleased with Burgundy Ice Nollie, as I think I recommended it to you at some point..
@Lizzie27 pleased your rose is on the way back... I like your fence... I was due to get the exact same type this year, but it's been put on hold like everything else.. I was so looking forward to my new fence, but it's my neighbours, so it's not up to me.. I have so many roses I intended to plant, but will have to wait..
@Mary370 you're getting a good rich colour of your Roseraie de l'Hay rose.. early blooms are often distorted like that, sometimes they abort completely, due to cold nights during the development stage a few weeks ago... nothing to worry about.. the follow on blooms will be larger and normal.. look forward to those, it's a gorgeous rugosa.. I can see the big fat buds in your picture, waiting to open, they will be much better...
@Marlorena thank you, feeling reassured again. Should I have pruned it, it's grown quite large, but I like it, perhaps next year I should give it a trim. Also as it is a rogusa, does it need to be fed?
@Mary370 … Mary, this rose is particularly gorgeous... it doesn't need feeding and definitely not spraying but I don't think you do that anyway.. prune next winter to size and shape.... this season, if you can, just leave it do its own thing... but if it gets in your way you can trim back after the first main flush...
@Marlorena And everyone here.. sorry for going off grid for so long. I was tested positive for coronavirus two weeks back and had been rather poorly... I even thought I may not get to see my roses bloom again this year at one point.. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy frankly. That said, I’m now slowly recovering and I stepped out onto my balcony properly for the first time today! I previously could only water them as quickly as possible before retrieving as I always felt so cold and shivery with my constant fever - and at one point I couldn’t even get out of bed at all..
It really was amazing to be seeing all the progress in my roses after what felt like forever to me.. I even took some photos of the buds which have emerged! I think somehow in my illness they’ve really caught up with the initial slow growth.. pictures below from my unknown yellow hybrid tea, followed by Roald dhal and Boscobel. My Sceptr’d Isle and Munstead are also producing a few buds now but I’ll take a picture next time.
Even my lupins have grown so much (before and after)
I am slowly going through all the pictures from the last week on this thread.. and I’m rather savouring it 😊
@celcius_kkw That is a shock to hear, I’m glad you’re on the other side now and hope you feel your strength return very soon. Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery 💐
