@Jenny-R helpmefind.com. It's a rose database with information about roses and pictures of them (uploaded by members). A sort of rose wiki :) I use it a lot to research varieties and learn about roses.
You can view all content there for free and also use the basic search. Some features like advanced search are for premium members only. I pay for premium membership because it's a page well worth supporting.

Ha! I’ve just been banned from the DA group I was a member of on Facebook!

The creator of the group posted yet another offensive post, using rude language, about a new member that he’d kicked from the group because they’d mistakenly posted a photo of a rose that they’d bought from DA but wasn’t a DA rose.

Its not the first time it’s happened and I commented to say - along the lines of - this is a group of lovely supportive rose growers very willing to offer advice etc. It upsets me that this non da rule has been enforced so heavy handedly and with a distinct lack of empathy to the point that new members have been simply kicked and then publicly shamed with rude language - when it could have been dealt with so much more kindly.

    Apparently not welcome now!

Nice group, just a shame that it’s run by a bully!

I've planted some bare root roses last month. When should I consider, if at all, feeding them? Two are in large planters and two in the ground. Would it be too much to mulch with manure around the base at this point?

Thank you @edhelka. That sounds like a very useful website for anyone interested in roses.

...it's also very good for Clematis and Peonies, something that I don't think is always realised about that site as it defaults to roses..  their clematis listings are actually very good, and I prefer it to Clematis on the Web, because you get more members photos.. I have a few of my own to post to it at some point..

@Mr. Vine EyeGosh I saw that too on Facebook! Terrible isn’t it.. a lot of novice gardeners wouldn’t know that David Austin also sells roses that aren’t bred by them.. (I was one of them).. all it takes is a kind explanation (which I very fortunately received)

That chap clearly has forgotten how he started out and all the lovely people that helped him along. I’m going to quit that group actually.. I don’t need the negativity and feel like I have to double check what I’m posting is truly DA.. (although most of my roses are DA anyway lol)

I once joined a DA Facebook group... you had to request to join it... I had a look for about 5 minutes, decided it wasn't for me, and unjoined…
