That looks beautiful @Nollie. I like the idea of incorporating a differ style bloom as I do have many pinks and reds. It definitely needs to be scented as that's where I sit on the rare times I actually just chill out in the garden! Am planning to replace the other green planter do have the potential of getting another rose too...
  • Has anyone ordered potted roses from Peter Beales recently, I'd be interested in how long their delivery really takes? Their website says 3-4 weeks, which is a bit too long for me as I'm an impatient person  :D But they have by far the best potted roses selection.

@edhelka thanks for your "My Beth" photo- it's been high on my list of roses to buy, but after seeing you describe it as a Mildewy Mess I think I'll give it a miss ;) !

Yes, I ordered some from Peter Beales last week. I had to phone, as the www wasn't accepting my card, and she confirmed that delivery was 3-4 weeks... sigh!

  • Thanks @Janie B - I was hoping that delivery would be quicker now that the lockdown has eased, but sounds like that's not the case...I think I'll have to think of alternatives as 3-4 weeks brings us to the end on July and I have some gaps in my borders that need filling before then! What roses did you order?

Haha ... "What roses did you order...?" Funny how nervous I was about ordering roses without consulting the Forum... I ordered two short-ish climbers for pots to go over a lovely rose arch I've had made for over a gate... Pink Perpetue and New Dawn (... and since the Forum's been back, I've read that New Dawn doesn't always get great reviews...!!!). Don't judge me!

@Katsa, Have a look at DA climbing Claire Austin. Very vigorous, scented white/cream flowers with pale lemon centres - would look very good with the hops. Has very pliable long canes so would be easy to train over the pergola.  Only drawback as far as I'm concerned is that the bloom is the incurved shape and I now prefer an outward facing bloom. Mine does get slight BS eventually (but all my roses do), it's not so bad as on some others.

@Janie B I've got Pink Perpetue and I love it! It came with the house when we moved here 6 years ago and I nearly got rid of it as it was a tangled mess, but a good pruning and fertilising regime has brought it back to life. It's still looking good after all the rain we've had. Hopefully you'll love it as much as I love mine!

That arch looks lovely, would love one like that in my garden!

I've just come across a new website/supplier, for me at least, RV Roger, and they say they can ship an order out immediately and reach me by the end of the week, which is remarkable considering other suppliers are taking 3-4 weeks. But has anyone had any experience of using them.

I used RV Roger, ordered the 11 june arrived the 17th. Roses healthy and in bud, not as large as DA or Cottage memories but fine and great service. Just avoid YouGarden
