It was white over here when we went to bed @Marlorena , but this morning ( unlike the rest of the week where it never moved) it had nearly gone by 10am. Maybe it is going to be warmer.

Happy New year everyone, and thank you all for such a delightful thread! Looking forward to more as they all start to bloom!

It dropped to -4 here - I checked on the potted and heeled in roses and they seem to be quite cosy still.  They are sheltered against a wall down the side of the house and all happily sprouting - I cover with clear plastic when it rains heavily so they dont get too waterlogged. I was worried about covering too much incase they struggle when they have to manage "themselves".

Mr Vine Eye, your garden is looking quite cottagey and Malvern Hills really suits the location...

I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this question but how often do you spray your roses for black spot?

No problems with the question, you are most welcome...

I don't spray roses and haven't done so in 35 years but I think a regular sprayer would probably do so every couple of weeks...  other members here can answer you on this maybe..
For me, it's a matter of how much I can tolerate - turn a blind eye too, which isn't easy I know..  I get black spot as much as anybody else..

I gather that in your area, which I assume is maybe the Dallas/Fort Worth southern Plains region?.. black spot pressure is very high, right?...   maybe a lot higher than here even... due to the oppressive heat and humidity..  maybe you would spray more often but I wouldn't know that..  David Austin roses have a trial ground they use at Farmer's Branch rose gardens, N. Dallas... do you know it?..  some of their roses are reported to be black spot prone in those gardens..
