Yes, @Nollie and @londondesi100 I have Ab Fab/Julia Child in a pot. I got it this summer and put it first in a pot not much bigger than the delivery pot. I bought some 20lt pots and it has been in one of those for the last3 months
    20 Litre Depth: 29.2cm (11.49 inches) Top dia: 35.0cm (13.77 inches) Bottom dia: 27.4cm (10.78 inches)

It has flowered non-stop and grown loads. I will repot it into one of the more decorative 60lt pots I have requested for Christmas but could equally put it in another pot only one size up when it needs it (not yet)

YouGarden sent me a totally dead rose in July, it had clearly not sprouted at all in 2020. As a supplier they clearly had no idea that a rose in July should be leafy and green, but they could have looked at the other ones they sent me in the same box!

  • @Nollie -- thanks ( again) from me too -- I'm rapidly wishing I had found this forum earlier in the pandemic , I've learnt more in 36 hours from a few helpful and knowledgeable posts than I have from endless days of my own ineffective research over the summer.

@Littlegarden I've started to peg the long canes of Ferdinand Pichard (well, cane), for space reasons, and in the past have done that to Mme. Isaac Pereire, but nothing to the level they have done. If you like the style, have a go and see what you think? Which roses do you have?

For those who have received their DA orders, does yours still say unfulfilled on the order page?  Not sure if they're just behind on updating or if my order is messed up.

Thanks for this, I might try it with the banksia. I didn’t get round to encouraging it to climb on the shed. I have a a couple of hybrid teas (I think), GJ, Shropshire Lad and Inspiration.

I have not long received; Paul Neyron, Litchfield Angel (when I saw it in flower, it was very pale, but that was good too) and Lark Ascending.

Anyone had a Shropshire lad rose?

Everywhere i read that it doesn't rebloom well but everytime i see its photos, it looks so beautiful. I guess i like that flower shape and reverse shading. Flower Jubilee Celebration looks similar to it and it is in wimpy state and i am babying it.

Is there any other rose that looks like it? I don't want to buy  green giant, but which other rose looks like it?
It doesn’t seem to repeat flower for me, It has only been in a year. I have just opened up the area around the rose. Maybe with a bit more light and feed, it might do better. I have clay soil so it is quite rose friendly.

It is a lovely flower and smells good. DA says it repeat flowers, just hasn’t yet for me. It could be one that

@londondesi100 Quite a few of us have ordered from this supplier:

    https://www.rozenlottum.nl/en_GB/

Prices are very good and selection is large. I’ve not ordered from them prior but others have had good results.

I wouldn’t personally buy any mystery rose bundles, usually the quality is not good.

  • @Omori @Tack thank you for the website recommendation and pot details respectively

    @londondesi100,
Hello and welcome to the forum. To answer your question I bought the bundle of 5 bare root floribundas for £15 from Yougarden in November 2019. They only had two main canes, rather than the three recommended by other posters on here (I didn't know that at the time).  It was more of an experiment out of sheer curiosity I suppose. I potted them all up except one (the weakest) which was a mistake in hindsight and planted in amended soil where a rose had previously been grown. However the potted ones have been fine, repeat flowering (but no fragrance) with good foliage, especially the dark pink one (labelled red!) They have all suffered (like most of my roses, with blackspot). As soon as they go dormant, the intention is to plant them out. Would I buy them again, if I had more room, I'm not sure. Most of my existing roses are named DA's or Peter Beales. You can't compare named roses with unnamed ones but if that is not a consideration and you want to fill a large garden or bed with roses, they would be okay.
    Hope this helps.

@Littlegarden, thanks for feedback on A Shropshire Lad. I haven't seen it in person but I really like its flower shape and colour in photos so have ordered it. Sometimes heart rules head!

Has anyone received their TCL order yet? I'm torn between really wanting it to arrive, but also not wanting it to arrive as I still have another flower bed to create.

All my roses seem to be settling down for the winter, so I'll start doing the grand switcheroo over the coming weeks.

I understand that @Marlorena has taken a step back from the forum, but I just wanted to check that she's okay? Has anyone spoken to her recently?
