Would adding a bit of manure to a 50/50 mix of JI No3 and General Purpose be OK for the roses I'm potting up, or will that make the compost too rich.

@Omori - Beautiful Wild Edric! All my roses are still budding like crazy. It will be fun trying to move them in early November. I've been quiet as all I've done the past couple of weeks is dig up beds and dig in new compost. Hopefully if the weather improves this weekend, I'll start moving some of the roses so I can prepare for the new lot coming in november.

Have you read the astonishing reviews on HMF, @newbie77? Didn’t realise this was the same rose as Dee-Lish, which I kept reading about on US forums, seems to have 9 names! Looks like a large, vigorous rose, but seems to be very highly fragrant, disease and everything else resistant.

@Nollie , Thanks, just saw the reviews now. Wow everything Excellent!  It is looking all good on paper/screen, just that somehow photos are missing charm... how do I describe it, it is looking like my pink camellia and not like rose. I like it on some photos but not in some.

I am still thinking, worth a try for fragrance, but then i already have so many on my list this year.

I think what I want is a darker version of Boscobel but not too dark. So I like it in second photo of Peter Bale's site but not in third photo. Even in HMF photos I am not sure what colour it really is.

@newbie77, yes I see what you mean. Marlorena always says look at the photos and reviews of those closest to your climate to get an idea of how it will be for you. How roses behave in the UK are not what they will do here or anywhere else, but sometimes the heart wins over the head and vice-versa. Sometimes you just never know if it will do well or whether you like it until you try it.

PS - @Tack, DdeC is beautiful, love that casual, ruffled form.
