Lovely pics everyone. @Marlorena Your roses look like almost in full bloom, I love the colours of Anne Boleyn and the shape of Bathsheba bloom. @B3 I like your climbers, I would love to see photos of the whole plants, maybe later when there are more blooms. I always enjoy seeing how people train their climbers or fit them within some allocated space. @Omori Lovely Olivia. What do you think about her? It seems like DA roses lovers either love her or dislike her (for not being as fragrant and as graceful as other DAs). I expect blooms from my Olivia in the next week, can't wait. So far, I can only say I love the spring foliage.
Regarding the sulphur ban, I also haven't been able to find anything useful. Maybe it's because the traditional dusting application can be dangerous (breathing in the dust) and it is OK in water-soluble/sprayable version?
It has a scent if you go up close @lilysilly @edhelka some are back of the border and garden is a bit narrow to get far enough away to get whole plants some of which have spread about 10ft in both directions!
@edhelka This is Olivia’s second year. First year growth was very weak, the new foliage that appeared looked like it had caught some pesticide spray, except it hadn’t. Just very poorly looking. It didn’t do much that year. This year it’s putting on very strong, vertical growth. I think next year it will come into its own. Scent I would say, 3/5. Very nice fragrance if you stick your nose into it.
This is from some days ago but you can see what I mean.
This was her last Spring, after being planted bare root the previous November. Dreadful:
But she did perk up a bit and put on better growth and flowers, but hardly grew otherwise:
everyone’s roses look stunning! I’m so jealous as most of mine are a way off yet. Two starting to show though...
Silas Marner trucking along. I’m not very good at identifying scent but I stuck my nose in and I think it smells like a really intense Turkish delight. Picture is pretty reflective of colour in real life - outer petals very pale candy floss pink.
Starlight Express - not the prettiest plant (although that might be my lack of skill with climbers!) but this shocking pink bloom really took my breath away. No scent unfortunately and blooms are fairly small but I could look at it all day
And here’s a Lupin (Castle something I think) just because it looks good today!
Guinee doing well. Divine scent. I'm willing and singing it over the arch.
First Pilgrim to open. Pilgrim is a bit dense for me. But lovely colour and lovely smell. (Bought in error).
Jamain. A bit pink for me. Was hoping for a deeper red, but it does change colour a lot through the year. Tiny flowers at the moment, but it's only in its first year of flowering. Good for a shadier shot. No probs with disease yet.
I'm enjoying the mix of reds, purples and white umbellifers at the moment. My Some Ravenswing is holding on (just) despite slugs.
I was just pulling a weed out from under a rose when it gave me a vicious stab. I wouldn't have minded so much if I'd been pruning it - fair dos (how do you spell that?) but I was doing it a favour😡

I'm so looking forward to see how it will be.
