    @Watsonia Nice roses! Im not good at id'ing but have a Buff Beauty that looks awfully similar to your last rose.

    Apologies if someone has already suggested this earlier. Ive been in the hiding and there is so much to catchup!!

    @Alchemist thank you for your suggestion, I just went and had a google and I’m not sure. Buff beauty is a beautiful rose but seems more apricot in the photos than mine (it is a really pale yellow). It also mentions a beautiful fragrance in the description and very disappointingly mine just doesn’t has a detectable fragrance at all.

    @FlyDragon I love blue for you, it looks stunning. Does it need a very sunny spot or could it cope with a bit of shade?

    Hi Watsonia.  Mine has sun for a good chunk of the day, but not all, and it is partially shaded by 2 standard roses planted either side. Its the first time I've grown it though so I'm no expert I'm afraid!

    ...you have a large garden @newbie77
    … nice to see updates on progress like that...
    @Katsa
    .. more lovely roses.. they will look nice in your Derbyshire setting..
    @FlyDragon
    ...Tuscany Superb always looks wonderful in photos.. I have not grown it..

    ...just to say about 'Blue For You'... I hope you don't mind the thorny nature of this rose... it's well endowed shall I say..

    The thorns are definitely a point to consider. I did some dead heading in a knitted jumper the other day - bad idea, I don’t know what I was thinking.
    The idea of a blue rose is just very appealing and blue for you looked lovely in flydragons photo, would you have any other recommendations? Ideally I’m looking for a climber, but would also consider other forms.

    Another question alert! I've been pondering at what point in the summer would planting a potted rose become less sensible than waiting to plant a bareroot November one? By this I mean in terms whether there is any advantage either way on how well it will do next year.

    Relevant info I think is that my garden is bone dry, there has been practically no rain for well over 2 months, my waterbutts are long dry and the tapwater here is unspeakably hard. I am watering my new roses most days as a result but not seeing a lot of growth.

    I love the thrill of receiving a rose delivery with buds about to burst but have noticed the plant doesn't necessarily produce any more flowers in the current season.

    Edit: I've noticed for instance that my June 2019 planted Generous Gardener is way ahead of my July planted Claire Austin. Both were bought from DA and seemed the same size and are planted next to other other on the same trellis.
