    Would spraying the soil around the base of ones suffering from BS kill any potential spores.
    It would depend on the type of spray. But if it kills the bad fungi, it would most probably also kill the beneficial ones in the soil.
  • @peteS thank you, really good to hear that especially about the rain.  Does yours get a lot of sun.  I've put mine in a shadier spot (between the old tree trunks from an earlier post).  If it doesn't do well there I can always move it but was hoping it would give some height on that part of the fence.

    Anyone tried neem oil to get rid of black spot and other spores? Seen mixed reviews online

    I made my order from TCL and then also from Beales... quite painful to order bareroots for £17.50 just after ordering from TCL.

    @poppyfield64...yes, full sun all day.
  • More rose orders, how exciting, I will make my last two at the end of the month (payday).

    I'd love to know what people are ordering and why but perhaps that is just me being nosy :) I made a justification list for my purchases this year as if I have to explain it to myself :D

    Lovely Lady Emma H, @Omori that looks like a nice colourful area.

    My Penelope is mildewed but she is near the house wall and I suppose it is both sheltered and dry.  I'm going to invest in more waterbutts in the next few months; the ones I want are currently out of stock. Black spot and other blemish wise I'm not doing too badly.  I have a fresh batch of caterpillars sticking the buds and leaves together but I suppose it is food for the pipistrelles.

    I notice that David Austin have been increasing the price of their bareroot roses in March, when they release the new roses each year by 50p. They’re £18.50 now compared with £17.50 when I bought my first ones. So will be £19 next year.

    does anyone know when they started doing that?

    Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong with my Claire Marshall? These are her latest blooms...

    @Ffoxglove my new Chateau de Cheverny arrived with browning on the opening blooms and the problem has got worse with new buds, the pot is totally shaded and the plant in semi-shade, so I now don’t think it is transplant/climate shock or them frazzling in the sun (parts of the UK has been hotter than here lately). Could we be suffering the same problem, whatever it might be? Hoping someone can shed light on it!

    Here is a new bud I picked off and opened up to check inside.
