  • Pretty happy with 3 of the roses delivered today from harkness as they seem good strong plants!!

but the other 3 below are a bit poorer and look as if they have just chucked them into bigger pots in the end to mislead customers!

plus the last rose is damaged so much with plants not even planted properly and being on its side although box was damaged so delivery was an issue for that one as well!

    Margaret merril
in last picture, which mostly damaged or broken!!

  • Sorry this is the Margaret Merril that is so badly damaged!!

Complain asap @Daniel Rutherford. I'm, sure they would replace or refund it for you and let you keep the damaged one. With a prune and a little care it should recover.
My sister in law had a damaged rose from Harkness replaced and the original is now looking fine. Can't remember which variety it was but it smells lovely.
  • Yes I will do @lilysilly. I’ve had to re-pot in the same pot cause it wasn’t even planted properly in the first place. Theirs only 2 shoots left on the plant after 6 had already broke off in transit!

Yes I’m sure it will come back well, I’ll make sure I nurture it!

@Daniel Rutherford , which roses did you get from Harkness Roses and are they the 7.5ltr ones? I'm looking to get a few myself but the choices aren't great at the moment - they had quite a range last week. I particularly wanted Chandos beauty but they don't have it listed at the moment.
  • Yes @MMflower I got 6 7.5l plants which were Margaret Merrill, simple gold, pride and prejudice, perfect match, Mary Berry and Natasha Richardson. I’m pretty sure for 3 of them that they have just put smaller plants into a 7.5l pot to be honest! Overall I’m a bit disappointed and u won’t be too keen on ordering from harkness in the future after that. I only ordered them on Monday and their was Chandos beauty plants available then but I already have it!

I was wanting Mary Berry... so I'd be interested to know how that one turns out..

I think you have to factor in here that these roses were being grown to be at their best at the end of May for Chelsea, therefore, they are not going to be fully rooted into those pots at this point in time, otherwise they would be pot bound in another 7 weeks or so and not at their best for show purposes..
Perhaps they should have made that clear..

Most are looking good and those that aren't so much will recover.. but I know it's disappointing and they cost good money, but given the current situation it's unfortunate...

  • Yeah I totally understand that but the 3 worst ones weren’t even in the pot correctly and still had a bag underneath. 2 were over on their side almost, I just expect more care to them being planted into the pot that’s all. They just seemed to Chuck them 3 in with the bag at same time whereas other 3 were perfectly planted and with bag covering foliage rather than under the soil.

..that's quite poor Daniel isn't it?  like a rushed effort.. we expect better even in these troubled times...
Looking at them again you really deserve some sort of a refund don't you?... I mean that's shocking...
