    Pleasant 24-25C here and very humid. We went to the beach on bikes and got soaked in a drizzle on our way back. It's changing to rainy again and will be rainy in the next two days.
    @Tack I don't have pretty photos and don't want to dissuade you. I haven't made my mind about that rose yet.

    @Tack - thank goodness it wasn’t quite that hot here! High twenties nearly 30 I think. Hit enough to get the paddling pool out for the boys. Not a drop wasted though, I scooped it all out into watering cans at the end. Did some more tidying and weeding today and some comparison sniffs.

    I think Lady Emma Hamilton may actually become one of my favourites for scent, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Even my wife thought it was ‘ok’ which is high praise indeed! Speaking of which, David Austin are going to send me a second bareroot in November after I sent my photos. Just have to figure out where on earth to put her!

    I was unsure whether to buy her or not originally as I thought from photos she looked incredibly similar to Lady of Shalott which I’d already planted. But no there is actually a noticeable difference in form and colour of the blooms, plus the bronze foliage and the amazing scent. So definitely happy that I went ahead and bought anyway.

    My OH is not a gardener either but appreciates everything I do, is happy to help with tasks, and is very supportive, so couldn’t really ask for much more!
    Oh she’s a superstar really. Wasn’t that keen on the idea of an allotment at first but she’s gradually got more and more into it and now she properly gets stuck in. Great at swinging a mattock and interested in discussions about vegetables, it’s been lovely to share it as a family especially during lockdown! Was completely overgrown when we got it.

    I’ll keep trying on the roses front! 😁

    @Mr. Vine Eye glad to hear that your Generous Gardener is keeping it's blooms longer now.  Gives me hope that Charles Austin will do the same as it's such a pretty rose.  Lots more buds on it still to open and enjoy.

    @Katsa lovely photos of your roses.  What is the gorgeous yellow one in the last photo?

    @Marlorena thanks.  I do think CA is lovely but I do prefer the more vibrant colour when it's just opening.....then it really is a "proper job" lol and as you know we do things "dreckly" down here.

    @poppyfield64 - he looks gorgeous (and I'm not a great dog-lover!)

    @Tack - best gauntlets I've ever bought are Tough Touch leather ones (RHS endorsed) from Jayco (UK) Ltd. Comes in Ladies and Men's sizes. Beautifully soft but thick ones.
    Pricey though about £30 I think (birthday presie?). Ladies size fits my small hands really well which is unusual for gloves.

    Yup, he'll do. When can I collect @poppyfield64 ?

    Thank you @Lizzie27, they look great. Do you wear gloves wihout a gauntlet for less thorny jobs as well. I had been thinking my husband would only be using a gauntlet when actually dealing with roses because I wonder if they are cumbersome or sweaty. He wears gloves for all gardening tasks and wears through them pretty quickly. What do others use?
