@edhelka, thank you very much for all the information. Lots to learn and look for. I will look at your suggestions. Actually big shrub roses could be good option as there are more to choose from.
@Marlorena thank you for that info. Was very interesting and mind boggling to imagine so many seedlings just to try to get one or two good ones. It really does make you appreciate what goes into producing the lovely roses we have in our gardens (with the exception of one or two).
@omor lovely to see you Claire Marshall with so many buds and blooms. I had 3 on mine when I got it a few months ago but nothing since. Lots of new growth but still no more buds. Good to know that this should improve with age.
Lovely photos @edhelka and your back garden is gorgeous especially with your circular bed.
We've had rain here today too. Was worried my newly blooming Eustacia Vye would be affected but it still looks really good.
I had a new bloom on A Whiter Shade of Pale so I brought it in. I absolutely love this rose. It continually has buds, clean foliage so far and the fragrance is amazing and also one that wafts rather than having to put your nose to it.
@edhelka Lovely dark red colours, I agree Purple Lodge's flowers are a lovely structure. Your garden has beautifully curated plants as they say now.
Finally after putting it in the very sunniest spot in my garden Sandringham has recovered from its delivery trauma. That isn't rain, no such luck, it is the soaker hose spray
And Teasing Georgia is about to give me another flush
@newbie77 Looking for large shrubs does sound like more fun.
@Delsie76 I didn't know you could get bare root now. I thought they had to be dormant so November at the earliest. Everybody on here seems to be buying potted plants for now and placing advance orders for bare roots to be delivered in the autumn.
Edit. I missed earlier posts to this effect. I think bare root potted means it was lifted as a bare root last winter, possibly kept chilled and then potted up for this season rather than fully pot grown.
I had spotted the multi colour variety of knautia - I'll keep an eye on it. I'm suspicious though as the stems on the red flowering part look slightly hairier than the pink...turning into a form of madness 😂
And no, edhelka I never did get my Alchemellia molis - they refunded me instead. I decided that I'll just try and gather some seeds. My in-laws nextdoor neighbour has some in the front garden so I'll ask.
Here's Lady Emma Hamilton's first bloom in my garden. Had a very awkward sniff trying to lean over to it without crushing anything. Smelled mice but couldn't really tell. Wrong time of day!
Rhapsody in Blue gearing up for second flush. This is definitely one that has full distinct flushes. Nothing in between.
My Kew Gardens cuttings are doing well!
Vanessa Bell about to come back into bloom. Very healthy.
The Generous Gardener - can see it now I've removed the finished foxgloves. Looks quite bare around it now. Although the soil is full of aquilegia seedlings and soon more foxgloves I have no doubt.
@Mr. Vine Eye, i was quite interested in getting Alchemellia molis in my last garden. Now i have it in my new garden and i am not keen on those anymore. They look like weeds somehow. I wish they could turn into heucheras by magic !
I think they are good for low maintenance garden or very large garden where you don't care how everything looks from close as long as it is green.

@rock_hen that's a very pretty bargain.

@edhelka & @Marlorena I see you both have Minerva. I know it's said to have a strong scent but how does it do in terms of health and flowering?
