I want to buy a 3 litre bare root rose plant for ground cover.  Is it too early to plant it, as the guide on here says plant from September?  Thanks.

@edhelka, thank you very much for all the information. Lots to learn and look for. I will look at your suggestions. Actually big shrub roses could be good option as there are more to choose from.

You usually don't get bare root roses until November

Oh right, probably my mistake (I started gardening in May and got my first plants from B and Q).  It does say bare root potted on here.  Does that make more sense or should I avoid?

@Delsie76 I didn't know you could get bare root now. I thought they had to be dormant so November at the earliest. Everybody on here seems to be buying potted plants for now and placing advance orders for bare roots to be delivered in the autumn.

Edit. I missed earlier posts to this effect. I think bare root potted means it was lifted as a bare root last winter, possibly kept chilled and then potted up for this season rather than fully pot grown.

Super roses @Tack.  Really liking your Teasing Georgia, such a lovely creamy yellow.

@edhelka & @Marlorena I see you both have Minerva.  I know it's said to have a strong scent but how does it do in terms of health and flowering?

@Mr. Vine Eye, i was quite interested in getting Alchemellia molis in my last garden. Now i have it in my new garden and i am not keen on those anymore. They look like weeds somehow. I wish they could turn into heucheras by magic !

I think they are good for low maintenance garden or very large garden where you don't care how everything looks from close as long as it is green.
