That's interesting @Nollie, I knew some DA's could handle a fair bit of shade but I read a thread recently by a forum member who had LEH and I got the impression this wasn't one of them. But yours only gets an hour a day, that isn't much at all and it is absolutely glowing, looks great.

The space I have should get the first half of the morning sun. I might review this as LEH is one I've gone back to over and over.

I'm excited on behalf of everyone ordering new plants, I might peruse these rose websites on the weekend, but just for fun.  I'll order my bareroots after August's payday, my plant budget is pretty much spent up to date on spring bulbs and I also have a shopping list of ferns, alpine clematis and hellebores for some new areas reclaimed from the builders.

Very sorry to hear about the theft @Tack some people really are low 🙁

@Victoria Sponge, thinking about it, now I have had a few cups of coffee 😆  it could be that my general light levels are stronger here, even in the shade. Marlorena seems to grow lots of roses successfully in the shade though, but I don’t think she has LEH. Maybe worth a gamble, especially if you place a bare root order with TCL - the prices are very freeing!

I've had a few cups of coffee too @Nollie, and was hit with inspiration. I've found a full sun place for it, opposite where I mean to plant a shady orange, poss Fellowship (for continuity).

It might be cheaper for me to order from DA with the 15% discount they give around September.  I'm going to have a thorough browse of the TCL website though, in case there's anything else that takes my fancy :)

..yes that's a bummer about the theft @Tack ... sorry to hear that news... so I can understand a treat with new roses..

... I do hope those ordering from Germany get their roses alright.  of course my experience was before Covid.. something I think we are going to have to mention quite a lot, as who knows what the current state of affairs is, with nurseries everywhere...
..I rather fancy a rose called 'Amour de Molene'... it's orange-y..

    @Nollie
..thank you Nollie,.. my garden is not go good this year though for obvious reasons.. and I'm still waiting for that new fence, which has been delayed until god knows when..   so I have all these potted roses I can't plant out just yet..
Austin's seem to handle shady sites quite well and I don't worry about it too much..

Thank you for kind comments about my garden theft. Some hobby equipment that we use and belonged to my late father was taken, a couple of £hundred,  I would guess.

@Nollie 2 Heidi s bought on the same day from the same place with such differing conditions will make for very interesting ongoing comparisons. Will be fun. Your other choices are also tempting.

@Nollie I am happy for you and fingers crossed your roses will arrive in good shape.
@Tack I am sorry to hear about the theft.
Does anyone here grow Chippendale (Duchess of Cornwall as they call it here)? I think I am warming towards warm-coloured roses and flowers.

Hi @edhelka,  thank you. It's funny I'd never heard of Chippendale before yesterday but it came up as one of very few when I used the rain resistant filter on Agel Rosen (Marlorena recommendation), highly rated by purchasers it looks like a good rose .

@Tack I've been seeing it for a long time and always like it in pictures. But it always was in the "too orange" category for me :) As far as I know, it should have quite a good disease resistance and the colour can change a lot between pink and orange.

Fingers crossed they do arrive OK, although it would have been far better if my resistance had crumbled last month @edhelka when it was much cooler.

I will pot them on and protect them from the worst of the sun until it’s a bit cooler. Nice to enjoy the sun again though, didn’t think we were going to get a summer! Oddly enough, given I am not usually a big fan of yellow roses, I am most excited about Chateau de Cheverny. Funny how one’s taste changes.

Yes it’s always fun to compare and contrast @Tack, I plan to order Kaffe Fassett from them when it is back in stock and doubtless a few more that TCL don’t carry - lots of tempting new roses on there. Whilst I’m thrilled M introduced us to it, my bank balance will be cursing it 😆
