@Katsa I should have been more specific.. the high end pots tend to be made of fibreglass (so not plastic really) .. they normally cost over 100 quid per planter.. sometimes over 200 quid! Crazy prices.
The cheap ones are the types you find in Homebase etc where they cost at the most a tenner per pot..
We are talking pots of similar sizes to the 47x40 one you mentioned earlier.. elho ones tend to be in the 20-30 quid range.. so it sort of sits in the middle..
@peteS@Valley Gardener I read recently on some tips on pruning roses that you take it down to the next five leaf stem. There may be other recommendations but I have followed that advice so far.
@celcius_kkw - I was secretly hoping you were going to reveal some really awesome plastic pot brands that I hadn't come across. I can't believe how much fibreglass planters cost. Will order a couple. Thank you so much!
@pitter-patter your pure poetry is beautiful! How long have you had it? I have had mine for a week I hope mine gets more flowers on it soon as it only has one!
Does anyone have any experience of the Moody Blues rose? I keep looking at it, Its other name is My lovely Dad, silly I know to get a rose just because of the Dad name but its the only one I can find that I like with dad in the name. Anyone else have any roses dedicated to Dads or Mums or any bereavement roses? I have been looking at scent from heaven too if anyone has one?
@Katsa sorry to disappoint! To me fibreglass and premium plastic (as in Elho or Stewart) aren’t that different in terms of looks so I get them mixed up sometimes.
Anyway here’s my Royal William hybrid tea - it’s been flowering continuously throughout this season.. huge blooms and good scent but never more than four or five blooms at a time. I think it’s limited by its comparatively small pot (approx 35x30cm) only..
@rock_hen I’ve bought the rose bare root in the winter, so this is its first season with me. Quite impressed so far, lovely foliage and beautiful buds. And most importantly for me, amazing fragrance.
Regarding deadheading, there is no hard rule. Just cut it how you like it. To the next leaflet or lower if it makes the plant look better. Or not at all, the flower stems will die back on their own (assuming the flower was deadheaded/there is no hip forming).
