    I like the pattern on that arch, right up the middle and over the top... my one reservation about it is that, I notice the width/depth from bar to bar is only 30cm.. 1 foot... that's quite narrow... I prefer those with depth 15-18 inches.. it will mean quite a restriction when it comes to training a rose...  in fact, I might put a twining Japanese Honeysuckle on it instead, as the flowers hang gracefully on the plant and it blooms for a long season.

    However, if roses, I would consider The Wedgwood Rose.. without worrying about reports of balling in wet weather, at least where I am.. the lax growth is pliable and the blooms hang down..  if the bars were wider I might choose 'Parade'...

    What I wouldn't want is a plant, like climbing hybrid teas, where the flowering shoots tend to grow upwards..

    I see David Austin has another one of their competitions on Instagram, to win a free rose... has anyone entered these before and won anything?  I haven't.. I thought it was UK only but I've noticed lots of people from other countries putting their names down too.. they don't seem to make it clear but I'm sure I read somewhere previously it was only for UK customers at the moment..

    I think I entered once. Or maybe it's the same competition still going on? I don't know :) it takes seconds to write a comment. There are always thousands of comments.
    I agree they are not clear about that. I think many Americans don't realize that that account is managed by British DA... they often ask things like "what zone are you in" and similar questions.

    My question seems to have slipped into oblivion, so I'll have one more try.
    My mature albertine is flowering  again. Is it stressed or is it the strange weather?
    I'm concerned that it might be the last hurrah before it succumbs.

    @B3
    ..I'm sorry your question was missed there... no, nothing that unusual, just enjoy the few extra blooms... occasionally a once blooming rose will offer a few later blooms.. I have one that does that, like once in every 30 years it seems.. I'm disappointed it's not this year though..  other roses do it more frequently, especially with the line of breeding similar to Albertine, some going on into autumn..

    @Omori - I love Aster Monch, it’s one of the best plants in my garden at the moment. It’s been going for weeks. One of those colours that would look good with anything.

    @Mr. Vine Eye It is lovely and so easy, I should make some cuttings to put elsewhere.

    Thank you so much @Marlorena. That's a relief. I will enjoy the blooms that havent decided to poke through the fence and have a look next door.
