    Hi all, has anyone else ordered from harkness' Chelsea stock?
    I ordered a 4.5litre Claire Marshall and I have to say, I am quite disappointed with it. Its very small and spindly. I'm wondering why I paid the premium?
    😔
    Thanks!

    @Songbird-1 No worries, these are completely normal. I am usually a week or week and a half behind England and some rose are quicker to leaf, some slower, depending on the variety. These two are autumn planted bare roots. Spring planted bare roots are just breaking dormancy.

    @Ffoxglove, was just about to order Harkness Chelsea stock roses - Chandos beauty and Hot Chocolate, both 4.5ltr pots, but after reading your comment, will hold off :neutral: If these were meant for Chelsea, surely they should've been bigger, more robust.

  • Ah Ffloxglove, I was just about to post the same thing! My Susie arrived and I too was disappointed. This is a 4.5 litre pot and thought it looked rather spindly and some of the leaves were a little spotty looking.  Was expecting something more since there were labelled as Chelsea stock  :/

    Hi @lesleymardell. Mine is smaller than yours...perhaps because it's not a climber but was expecting bigger.
    Dont worry about any spots though, I grow Susie and the health is outstanding.
    @MMflower I would wait until they replenish the stock of 7.5litre on the 6th April because the 4.5l just wasn't worth it.
    Still, at least we know they will grow into beautiful plants. Eventually!

    I wonder if they were the "for sale" stock being taken to Chelsea @Ffoxglove not show stock, very disappointing.

    @purplerallim looks that way... 😥
    I wonder if the 7.5litre roses were as impressive as the website makes out...

    @lesleymardell, I think that looks perfectly healthy and acceptable for an early potted rose, plenty of nice new growth on it. It would have been lifted from the ground as a bare root plant, and will need a bit of time to settle and develop it’s root system so I would keep it in it’s pot in a sheltered location or a poly-tunnel/greenhouse if you have one, water it from time to time and plant it out in late April/early May.
    Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
  • Can anyone please tell me if these two are suckers ..  :s
