@Nollie this an idea of what burgundy ice can grow to look like. It’s my mums and I’m sure she has had it for between 10-15 years. She has always been a bit scared to prune roses so hasn’t done anything except deadhead occasionally (as seen in this photo) and put some supports in to stop it being so droopy. It is lovely and I really like it.

Oh thanks, thats really helpful to see BI fully grown @Aero84. I’m sure your mums would benefit from a prune, but perhaps the open, arching habit is just how it is - looks lovely though and worth the wait for us both @Marlorena!

I wonder if many of the ‘fried’ blooms we are seeing is a combination of cold and wet weather followed by high heat? I’ve had that weather combo too and am seeing more of it this year, but put it down to rain damage at the bud stage. No excuse for this one though, it’s against a stone wall but shaded by an olive tree, plus this bud emerged after the monsoon... deep fried The Prince’s Trust:

Looks lovely Dove, I don’t have Bonica but Mayflower is a real trooper!

Hope my new Bonica grows up like yours @Dove! Such pretty blooms. It was first to bloom out of all my new bare root roses and gave me a good early display. Seems to be putting it’s energies into growing width-ways now, which is fine. Do you, or anyone else know whether it minds being moved? I understand some roses resent the disturbance, but I think I have a better spot for it...
