Unfortunately the media still prefer to focus on the number of people in hospital with Covid rather than highlighting the number in hospital due to Covid.  The numbers would be vastly different but would fail to make the lurid headlines so loved by the press and other media outlets these days.
I'm sure I must have had Covid at some stage in the past 2 1/2 years but at no time have I noticed symptoms, or tested positive.  I've not had cause to test on a regular basis as I'm retired.  I certainly didn't test simply to find out if I did have Covid.

I'm sure if you're in hospital with COVID it doesn't make treatment or chances of recovery any easier or better than without.

To be fair to the BBC, they have made it clear in their figures, that the numbers in hospital with COVID, may not be there because of COVID.
You certainly don't want to be having surgery, of any sort, if you have COVID, it increases your chances of a bad outcome.

I'm wondering what the odds are of contracting covid during a long stay. Increasing, I would imagine, over the next few months.

Hospital acquired COVID, is sadly now very common.

It's a big worry that hospitals can't protect patients from catching COVID while having treatment, or recovering, or even just waiting in outpatients' waiting areas.

I think I’d be just as furious if I contracted covid in hospital, as I would be if I got MRSA, although I suppose it’s more difficult to contain airborne viruses than it is to maintain hand hygiene.
My poor brother was in hospital after suffering an infection while on chemotherapy. He was made to wear a mask but the nursing staff coming in to see him weren’t. He did come down with covid shortly after that, but thankfully recovered from both that, and the original condition he was being treated for.

It's just been announced that all over 50's can now book their covid and flu jabs.

Glad your brother recovered from both conditions @Ergates.

The booking link that didn't work for me when they sent it, now works! OH was able to book an appointment at the same time as mine, and the venue is within walking distance (if it's a fine day). Result!
