Then again, why are there those who will happily puff away on a fag whilst queuing for their Covid jabs?
Very sensible of them, as they are likely to suffer more if they catch it. ( although I hope they weren’t smoking in the queue)
Its the smokers who won’t have the jab because of the supposed risks we need to worry about, some deeply flawed thinking there!

Yes, they were smoking in the queue...but at least they were socially distanced and replaced their masks after dropping the fag end on the floor.
Smoking full stop is deeply flawed thinking.
I shudder to think how much a pack of 20 fags is currently.

Well I'm feeling a bit better today. All weekend I've been totally drained of energy, aching in odd places and full of brain fog. I took the dog out for his walk last night and after half a mile or so I ran out of energy and it felt like I'd walked ten miles. I had a good sleep last night though and that's really helped. It's very rare that I get a cough but I could really feel this one attacking my lungs. The first night I kept waking up feeling like I'd suddenly inhaled some sandpaper and then second night I'd wake up feeling like I was drowning. The kids have mostly brushed it off like it was just another cold though.

Best wishes @wild edges. The evidence, such as it is, suggests total rest [ for how long? ] is the best way to minimise the risk of long COVID.

Thanks everyone. I'm surprised how quickly I bounced back today after feeling so terrible yesterday. I'm not sure I understand the advice in terms of avoiding other people though. When I submitted my results the NHS said to avoid people for at least five days after the positive test. Their website says to allow ten days before seeing anyone vulnerable but it also says that my kids can still attend school and somehow I'd need to get them there while avoiding people even though the kids will pass it on to everyone else anyway :/  Another few days off school won't harm them at their age but I can see why this is getting passed around so much with advice like this.

Totally agree, wild edges. I couldn’t work out how long I was supposed to stay out of the way. OH is older than me, and has more medical issues so I had a relaxing ten days in the guest room with him doing the cooking! I assume I could have gone out after five days, but we are in the luxurious position of only have the two of us at home to think about. As you say, the advice is confusing, and heaven help those like you who have young families to organise, when the advice for children seems to be only three days at home.

I just did another lateral flow test and a very faint line is showing. This is now the 7th day since the symptoms started so a faint line could either mean I'm recovering and less infectious or it could mean I bodged the test. I woke up at 4am dripping with sweat so I'm guessing it's probably the former. :#

Some of the tests don't have enough liquid to do the test. I had to use two capsules the last time I did one.
