If it’s built into the duties of the NHS then it would have to. I’m not blaming this particular government ... the NHS has been whittled away at for years. ☹️

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/22/revealed-private-firm-running-uk-ppe-stockpile-was-sold-in-middle-of-pandemic So much for public sector bad, private sector good. The whole idea of marketisation of the public sector is riddled with messes like this.

The problem with preparing for a pandemic is that it is all unknown.
    When will it hit,this year,next year,within 10 years?
    Where will it strike first?
    Nature of the disease,respiratory,blood,intestinal,nerve,etc?
    Incubation periods,2 days,2 weeks,2 years,20 years?
    Infectiousness,very,not very,unknown?
It could be something that kills millions in a short period of time and then vanish.
It could be something that only affects men or women or people of certain ethnic backgrounds or certain blood groups.
It could be a disease where ventilators were useless and dialysis machines needed,or a vaccine is known but difficult to store and needs to be 'fresh'.

There are so many variables that it is impossible for ANY health system or government to have everything in the right place at the right time.
We are dealing with THIS pandemic and no-one knows how it will play out.

It is by no means universally accepted that wearing a mask will protect other people.
Many reasons for this: only work for about 2 hours, wearer behaviour changes, they become more cavalier, people touch masks constantly and anything they touch after will become covered in virus, people constantly remove them and put them back on, rendering them useless.
Adoption of this strategy is not the way to go, it is about economics not health care.

Mr Ed has become Mr DD.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Just had someone ringing from the local council to see if we needed a food package. I'm glad I gave him a chance to speak before I treated him as a scammer😕
