Most people, and that includes most medical staff, regularly touch, or fiddle with their masks, which will then spread any virus onto whatever you touch next. Most of the scientists on SAGE did not want the rules changed, but the government did.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Trouble is, all the experts say something different, Sage, WHO, NHS England, one professor said if we all wore masks it would prevent spread between 60 and 80%My gloves come off before I touch the car door, mask and gloves go in a doggy do bag for disposal, then I do hands with the wipes or gel.Home wash hands, shopping out of bags, (apples, etc)some cleaned, put away, then hands again, but I have always done double hands with the shopping. My eldest daughter came over Wednesday, thinks what I do is hilarious, this is the same one who freaked out a few months ago, and told me to stay indoors. Her friends husband I thought had been in a coma 7 weeks, its actually 11, since March. .I watched the new a lady guessing she was in her 70s,in Kent, in a coma 11 weeks, hubby was told she had an hour to live, just went home, says if you have had it this badly, you want people to follow the rules, not like those flaming idiots on the beaches!!
I think it’s a box ticking exercise to insist on masks, rather than a sensible decision based on medical evidence. The government wants to get the economy back on track and most people want to get back to normality so let’s all pretend that masks will keep us safe. They are irritating and anti social but nobody in power wants to admit that this has all been very badly handled so they need to do something. We have all worked in my pharmacy since day one with no PPE whatsoever and have been perfectly fine, Now we have to wear visors and 2 members of staff are off with migraines! Well Done Boris!
Well on the news this morning they say beaches could be closed if people flock to them like they have been doing. Talk about shutting the gate after the horse has bolted Boris. They shouldn't have been opened so soon. All those sweaty bodies so close together isn't a good thing. 😕
My concern is that people who will continue to need help won’t be getting it. We had several calls yesterday from people worried about medication deliveries once they are no longer shielded and as our lovely volunteers return to their jobs we will be struggling to deliver to everyone who wants a delivery. What a shambles!
Really it’s a bit rich for the thousands who were at Cheltenham to point the finger at folk who want to take their family to the beach or have a summer street party.
Of course, the people who are doing it are stupid ignorant twazzocks ... but so were the ones at Cheltenham, and they’re the ones in charge of the country.
With any luck the ones left after this debacle is all over will be those of us with a bit of common sense .... probably just thee, me and a few other gardeners to repopulate the world 🤯🤪

The WHO takes a rather broader view than SAGE or a British government concerned only about its own citizens/economy/votes. The WHO has looked at evidence from many countries, including those with earlier experience of SARS, another Covid disease, and advises that maks are helpful in limiting the spread of the disease.
Migraines are caused by stress, not masks. Some joined up thinking is needed to improve care for the elderly, the long term ill, those with limited mobility in their own homes or shared facilities to make sure they get the care they need and that includes housing, home helps, food and medical deliveries. Looking at how other countries manage this better would be a start. If, in 1948, Bevan had paid attention to how Germany had introduced its national health system way back in 1883 and seen how it included social insurance (pensions and sick pay) and was insulated from political interference the NHS in the UK might have had a better system now.

@Obelixx - the populations of UK and France are similar, but France has more than twice the land area. This must inevitably make it more likely to encounter Covid in Britain than in France, surely? Here in Ireland the infection and death rate are a lot lower than in UK, but Ireland is largely rural. It all goes to show how difficult it is to compare one country's figures with another...
