Me neither.  They're not that uncomfortable and you do get used to it.   Mine are made from cotton but I still find they get a bit warm after an hour doing the weekly raid on the SM so OH and I have declined the offer to finish the season of ballroom dance classes with masks.

Lockdown happened a week ahead of the UK.  Businesses and shops have been shut down as in the UK.   Jobs have been furloughed as in the UK, transport and travel have been restricted longer.   Group gatherings are limited to 10 people outside.  On the other hand, social distancing is 1m, not 2m.

There are controls at seaside resorts and the most popular resort beaches to make sure public footpaths, strands and promenades have one way pedestrian traffic.   Lockdown in pub, cafés, swimming pools and so on is easing progressively according to regional progress on infections and deaths.

Maybe the masks are not such a waste of time after all.

Its the stuff in the top two paragraphs that's made the difference, not the masks.

A cotton mask, will at best stop you passing COVID to someone else, for about 20 minutes. It will provide you with no benefit if someone else breathes out COVID.

We know it's about protecting others @punkdoc and we've had the for weeks and weeks so maybe they're contributing to less virus circulating given the closer distancing here.

So,as I understand it then, your own mask doesn't protect you, but could protect other people for 15 minutes so if everyone wore one, I would get some protection however limited from other people's masks.
Does the actual mask only work for up to 15 minutes  in total so youd need 4 masks for an hour in the supermarket assuming you didn't contaminate the next one while changing it?
As I key in my question,I think I know the answer😕,

As I understand it the 3 layer masks I make are good for an hour.   That's enough to get my weekly shop done and yes I do have several cos I decided to amuse myself by making one from the remnants of each of my summer frocks and some of my patchwork so I'm coordinated too.

I put mine in a plastic bag after I leave the SM and then either hang them up in the sun for a day or two or else steam them clean.  Donning and removal should be done using just the elastics or ties and not touching the fabric.

SMs, DIYs and GCs have gel dispensers at the entries and I use it again when I'm done but at home it's just soap and water.   Fine so far and OH and I'll be staying cautious about outings and gatherings.

There's no 'safe' amount of time.  The mask stops being effective when it gets at all damp.
