It happens on my lane too pansyface. If anything can be said to be good is that the buzzards and kites get a feed. What really does annoy me is that the gamekeepers encourage the pheasants to stay on the lanes around here, anywhere between 100- 200 at the start of the season in any given area. There are plenty of ruddy fields for God's sake.

SO [ don't you hate a sentence that starts with so ], having cancelled our Christmas with BIL [ multiple 20 somethings due to be there, one a teacher etc etc ], with Moira still in Scotland, I suppose I need to try and organise some sort of Christmas feast for the 2 of us
Hopefully there will be some fresh turkeys appearing in the shops next week, if that’s what you’d like to have. OH and I have spent quite a few Christmas days a deux, and do manage to put away quite a bit of turkey, including the sandwiches, and I freeze the rest to make pies with.
We will not be having visitors this year, but I’ve stocked up on mulled wine, some mini Christmas puddings, and will be spending some time on FaceTime with the family. It always seems quite cheerful once I’ve opened the Baileys!

I think the pheasant killing is probably a way of getting back at the rich bar stewards who shoot hundreds of them that no one wants to eat. Run over or shot, they end up dead anyway and quicker than the ones that just end up injured by the chaps all designer kit and no skill

  • Back to covid. Darn it!, one GD has just got a pos lateral flow test.  She is fully jabbed and is the only one in the house that has avoided it so far, waiting for PCR,  but it's looking like the end of Christmas plans.

We’ve just be asked to do an LFT before every shift now, not just twice a week.

I think the probability of me having to work some of the Xmas weekend is rising.
