Maths isn't my thing😕 Could you explain in words what this means?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • The mortality rate can only really be reported by looking at deaths vs recoveries. But the UK
isn't reporting recoveries so it's impossible to compare. Our deaths to cases ratio looks bad because we are doing so little testing.
  • I've just watched dr hilary on gmtv and he says it's ok to garden for someone as long as the person your gardening for is inside and theres no contact.ive not been gardening for people.now can I?my question is also I garden for my parents.could I go over if they stay inside?I'm so unsure as to what to do.it seems I'm interpreting the advice differently to others.my works not essential but I cant work at home.i dont need the money tho we can survive on hubby's salary so I am lucky.but what's the governments advice?

How far away are your parents? We're allowed to drive short distances for exercise, so I don't see why this couldn't count. Of course there's always the argument that you could get into a wreck, which is why we shouldn't be leaving the house, etc.

Sounds like sensible advice in terms of the risk of infection is low. Doesn't seem to really fit the government advice. We could twist the argument a few ways, such as maintaining an elderly persons garden has essential health and safety reasons. I'm surprised this was given as advice on GMTV really because now a lot of people will visit relatives claiming they are doing the garden. My similar situation is collecting horse muck. It's a fairly short drive, risk of meeting others is zero, but I wouldn't want to explain why it is 'essential' to the Police.
  • Yes I think as the advice is just that.advice.non essential.well I can survive without gardening financially.and my clients are all ok and I keep in touch.and the gardens will be there in the future.and if I went to mums and gardened I know she would let slip to others I went!!its about 15 minutes away.maybe when the lockdown is eased I can go with a clear conscience

I took food to my mum last Friday.  We had a drink and a natter in the garden, sat well apart. My husband carried some compost up to the greenhouse from the garage, and we took the lilies from the polytunnel and put them on the patio bit.  At all times we were more than 2m away from her.  I left her with a fresh packet of dettol wipes and instructions to wipe the door handles as we left.  The gate was bolted behind us. Best we can do.
