Went to local Tesco this morning for papers. Woman in uniform, navy blue tunic trousers, fob watch, could see her ID, but most of the carers around here, as opposed to nurses, tend you have a t-shirt under the top, none regulation trousers, sandles, and no fob watch. She let out an almighty sneeze. I was already going in the opposite direction, didnt bother with the dog food, just got papers, cashier was free, self-service busy, wanted to get out SAP. Cashier said to me "Oh, sneezes are safe, its only when someone coughs its dangerous". I dont know if they get any kind of training, (one would have thought so) My youngest daughter just returned to work (store) she had to do a 38 page, health/risk assesment, and pass the test before returning to work. She is also the qualified first aider. One of the sections was about deserning whether someone has a cold/flu (what at this time of the year) or the virus. Frankly, cannot understand who she would know, think it would be difficult for a medic to "know". was going to tackle said uniformed person, husband said I should have said this and that, my first question would have been have you recently been negitavely tested, before I launched into rant!
Please please don't judge someone for sneezing! Its hay fever season after all and its not exactly something you can control!
Why on earth would you think it was ok to tackle somebody going about their business? They were probably a community care worker and its not like they can change out of their uniform between every visit!
It may well be innocent, you shouldnt be wearing your uniform in public, (I was nursing 40 years) I didnt "tackle" her in any way shape or form. My hubby gets really bad hay fever, and wearsa mask in public, so people dont get the wrong idea, (or sneezed on) Was more staggered by the girl thinking it was completely safe to sneeze on everything as long as you dont cough.

I'm a nurse, I work in a hospital at present but I've worked in the community too. Have you? How is it possible not to wear your uniform in public when you work in the community? Yes she should probably have covered it with a coat or jacket but she couldn't have got changed!
Let's not go down the route of getting all judgey about other people. Its still ok to sneeze or cough as long as you 'catch it bin it kill it' then clean your hands as soon as you can. I'm sure you've been taken by surprise by a sneeze before! Sometimes they just happen!
Call me old-fashioned, but any health care uniform should not be worn in shops. You should change at your base unit or go home first. It’s hygiene and professionalism. Unbelievable that people think a sneeze won’t spread germs. Surely no training is even required for that fact. Even before COVID, I felt very uncomfortable about people sneezing - a cashier once sneezed into hands (damage limitation I suppose) but then carried on touching my shopping 🤢
Yes, its been said for months now, if you suddenly sneeze or cough without warning, do it into your elbow. The Trusts i worked for you werent allowed to wear uniform in public.

When I worked in the community we didn’t have a base unit. I wore apron and gloves For all patient contact anyway and unlike a lot of people wearing PPE now I knew how to do so properly and effectively!
What do you think I should have done if I needed the loo on my shift or to eat or get a fresh drink or if I need to grab some medication?
Coughs and sneezes spread diseases. Should be taught before primary school. Virus ir no virus. Maybe it should be the message on the podium. More relevant than stay alert

My new favourite game! Worryingly, some of the healthcare workers dabble in the ‘schnoz’.
