@Allotment Boy - they were the sort you do at home and no, not enough time had elapsed since she last say her BF and our visit, hence the decision to call it off.
No mention of boosters here yet Kili, but we will definitely be taking up the offer. i had my yearly flu jab last week but he didn’t know when the COVID one would be offered. They say it starts to deteriorate after 6 months, if that the case then mine’s well gone by now.

Our local authority are talking about giving the flu jab at the same time. Not sure about that for the wife as she's immunosuppressed and doesn't seem to react well to the jabs as her drugs are trying to supress her immune system, so having two at the same time might cause issues. I on the other hand seem to be okay except for a slight reaction to the AZ vaccine, but the boosters going to be Pizer this time so don't know how I'll react to that one.
Hope you get yours soon . I always follow up and don't wait for action, but try to take action. Chase up your GP don't wait for the call be proactive else you get lost in the admin. The infection rates seem to be stubbornly high so you need that vaccine boost to protect you to keep working for at least as long as this blasted virus is so prevalent in society .

Don't worry @Lyn. There is some decrease in efficacy of the vaccine over time, but as far as we can tell, it still has a significant benefit long after being given.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@didyw , Ahh if they were home tests they would be lateral flow, good but not as sensitive as PCR. The PCR test always has to go to a lab even if you take the sample (throat & nasal swab) at home. Even then the test relies on the swab being correctly taken.
The LF tests must be leading people into a false sense of security, my family were negative on Friday night, positive by Saturday. Daniel still hasn’t had his result so is shut in his room at Oxford. None of them are that ill, just throats, coughs and headaches. They know how to do them properly, the boys have been taught at school and she has to do them regularly for her job.
@punkdoc. Thank you for reassurance, son said much the same thing, he’s waiting to be called for his flu and pneumonia jabs and will take up the offer of COVID of course. He also recommended that I had the pneumonia one, so I suppose I better had. He’s usually right, spends more time in hospitals than me.

I'll be having a COVID booster as soon as it's offered, but it's supposed to be at least 6 months after the 2nd dose so that makes it mid-November at the earliest. I had my flu jab today, much earlier than I expected (it was December last year) but I'd have had them together if the timing had worked out that way.

@Lyn, I didn't mean to cast doubt on them doing thir swabs . I just wanted to point out generally that even the very sensitive PCR can fail, if the swab is touched on the tongue or another part of the mouth. No test is 100%.
Oh no @Allotment Boy. No problem, I didn’t think that at all, just to say they’ve done them often and were taught how to do them properly, unlike us who’ve never even seen one😀 Daughter is a child minder and works closely with social services.

Here cases have dropped to less than 30 per 100,000 so we no longer have to wear masks outdoors or in public spaces but we do have to wear them in shops. In the council area where I do patchwork and dance class we have to show our QR code/Passe Sanitaire to say we've had the vaccines and can then proceed unmasked.
The council area and local community centre where I do mosaic has a mixed catchment of people and incomes so no Passe Sanitaire checking but masks obligatory along with disinfectant for hands and tables.
OH has his appointment for the Covid booster but I won't get mine till end of November. We have not yet received the call to get flu jabs.
