Daughter took  grandson up to Oxford on Friday evening,  got him settled in his room, younger one starts coughing,  they all test,  positive,  daughter , husband and younger son had proper tests, all positive, poor Daniel is still waiting for his results.
looks like he will be spending his freshers week in isolation. I do feel sorry for him.
Younger one no doubt brought it home from school,  they’ve all got it, she says everyone she knows has it.
I knew Cornwall was bad, she said that I’d got no idea how bad.

Thank you.  Young one had a jab on Wednesday they’re only giving one does to 12 year olds. Daniel had his 2nd one on Wednesday,  they don’t seem very ill, little one’s the worst, very bad cough,  it’s just that Daniel has to spend his first week in isolation.
They actually have their ceremony on the 16th.  Hopefully he’ll be ok for that.

That is such a shame @Lyn, really bad luck with the timing. One of my cousins last night was telling me that out of 12 people in her immediate family, she is the only one so far not have caught it - and she works in a school! it does seem very hit and miss. Am hoping we haven't caught it from all the relatives we hugged last night!

Cases going up again in our area.  We wear masks in shops but the other evening we had an event to mark the 50th anniversary of our local history society.  There were over 55 of us in the room, sitting side by side in rows.  Average age around 70 if not more.  None of us even thought about wearing masks.  I'm more inclined to think it's more a game of chance  now - we have 30 cases in our town out of 4,000 people.  What are the odds that I will meet one of the 30?  Or, if you count people carrying it without symptoms how many more is that? 300?  That said, granddaughter's boyfriend and both his parents have tested positive so we didn't go ahead with the planned family dinner in case granddaughter has it - despite her having 2 negative pcr tests.

  • If she has 2 negative PCR tests so long as sufficient time has been allowed for the virus to replicate (3-7) days She is not likely to be infected.  If they were only lateral flow tests , the risk is higher as these need a higher  level of virus to be able to pick up an infection.

@Allotment Boy that’s what happened with my daughter and family,  they all tested negative before they went to Oxford then the next day the younger one started coughing.

Er indoors and myself will be taking up the offer. Are they now becoming available in your area and will you be getting it?
