Hats are often too big on me. My dentist and optometrist both tell me I have a small face, so I guess it figures that one-size-fits-all masks don't fit.

Thanks @pansyface ,  I'll try that if I find myself having to use one, but my washable fabric masks fit much better without any messing about.

OH is watching a golf competition in Texas.  I asked if it was live or a recording of an old match.

    Live.

There is no social distancing in the crowds and no-one is wearing a mask that I can see.

Yep.. pandemic is over in the US.  Things are back to normal, rare to see a mask, all plastic guards have been taken away, and people are social again.  Carnival is in town, graduation just happened (and they removed the two people per graduate requirements planned, and let people have as many tickets as they wanted for their extended families and friends - no masks required), etc.  We are only at 30% vaccinated across the state, below national average.  But this is also a republican state, so that might explain a bit.

We've been watching the Giro bike race across Italy, and not much masks over mouths/noses or social distancing either.

@Blue Onion Honestly from talking to the family back home it seems like the pandemic never really started in the first place. Even those who have been taking it seriously have been out shopping, regularly travelling to other states, hanging out with unvaccinated relatives, etc.

Life is too short to watch a bunch of men in ghastly shirts and shorts trundling around on bicycles @Blue Onion.   TBH, it's also too short to watch or play golf but OH had it on and I was in the room.

I have just come back from a garden group visit - Mothers' Day so only 24 of us, outside in the open but all wearing masks except our host who was using a microphone to help explain the what, why and how of their garden.

Had my second jab of AZ on Thurs. Felt fine after and very slight sore arm the next day. Went away Fri, had a very busy day, walked a lot more than usual and felt fine. Bad nights sleep on Fri due to the drama from the other occupants either side of my room.

Tired and slightly achy Sat, did a bit of sightseeing that day and by 2pm decided to come home early as I’d be more comfortable at home.

Felt fine all day yesterday, mainly light gardening in the morning and housework in the afternoon. Thought I was over any symptoms, but I feel exhausted today and am struggling to get going.

At least I’ve had my second jab now and having to cut short a trip away was still worth getting the second jab as early as possible.

Another big head here. Second batch of disposables caught me out - took one out of the box for a trip the shop and discovered it was too small when I got there. The ear loops were made from a single piece of fabric rather than elastic straps. Looks like we will be getting a third wave soon so will stick to avoidance behavior despite having had both jabs.

If the lockdown eases on the 21st, I will pretend it didn't and carry on as I'm doing now. I would have had more confidence if they had closed the borders as soon as it became obvious that the new variant would spread. Too little too late again.
Vaccinated people are not necessarily immune. If it turns out that with the vaccine,  catching the variant is just like a dose of old-fashioned flu, I will reconsider. But at the moment, it is not possible to make an informed decision.

A third wave?!  Really?  That is terrible.  My fully vaccinated teacher friend just has her summer holiday flights to Ireland canceled - by the country, not the airline.  So she got a full refund at least, not a flight token or something.  I hadn't heard anything about a resurgence in Ireland or the UK.. I just figured they didn't like the American vaccine cards - basically an index card that is easily forged.
