  • Imagine that a member of a Traveller clan had a message that one of his parents was suicidal, and he got in his van and drove 300 miles across the country during Lockdown in the hope of preventing a tragedy ... do you think that he could expect the amount of support from the public that Ms Holden is getting?
    Yes.
I admire your faith in the British public ... but my experience tells me it is misplaced. 😢

I still don't get what is so complicated.
Amanda Holden was negative, at the moment she was tested, she may well have become positive at any time after that, and would not have known. She is working during the week and could therefore have past it on to anybody in that time.
If there was an emergency at home, it was likely to have been resolved by the time she had driven 200 miles.
She was just being selfish, saying the rules don't apply to me.
Now she has been caught, she is apologetic, because she is worried about her image.
Well if Boris’s own staff break the rules what do you really expect ?

  • An emergency referral to that area’s Social Services adult Mental Health team would be my first thought for support.

But since we have absolutely no idea what happened we are not in a position to judge others.
If you had a distressing phone call and drove 200 miles and stopped a tragedy you could be said to have not needed to go.
On the other hand if you had not gone and the tragedy happened you would be censored for not going.
There are just some situations where you have to go with your gut.

That may be YOUR first thought about the situation but not for others.

I am not aware of the exact reason for her visit to her parents but it seems she is being pilloried because she did what many others would because she is a celebrity. I don’t like her but it seems unfair. It’s easy to judge if you don’t know the circumstances.

That is part of a wider problem ... many folk who have always fended for themselves have no idea how to access the support that is available when push comes to shove 😞

If I was 200 miles away, there would be little I could do.
Obviously I would not do nothing, but being there would make no difference to the things I could do.
I have a dying mother, who has had 3 recent admissions to hospital, I have not seen her since the pandemic started. It is very painful, but it is the right thing to do.
I don't want to kill her, or, anybody else, as a result of increasing the spread of this disease.
I may be wrong but, I expect if she had a good reason for going, her publicity team would have ensured that the reason got out. I may be cynical, but it seems more likely to me, that the reason was trivial, maybe to do with her birthday.
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

  • Wot @punkdoc !!! Not her 50th birthday tomorrow?!?! No, no one would be stupid/thoughtless enough to do that would they? 😲

  • Just watched Panorama talking about some of the miss-information being spread about the virus & the vaccine. Some of these people are supposedly health professionals, they were saying at the end of the programme that some of them had been suspended by the various professional bodies. IMHO they should be struck off no second chances.
