Just to confirm an earlier post from @Singing Gardener . They are being super cautious about saying you won't catch the virus because they don't have enough data YET.  In principle being vaccinated should mean that the infection can't take hold,  you eliminate the virus,  and therefore can't pass it on.  Unfortunately life,  and viruses aren't always that straightforward , also bear in mind at 85-90% effective means 10-15 out of every 100 don't have full or possibly any protection so can be infected and so pass it on.

I have been asked by a few parents of children in the 20-30 year old group, what I would do, and my view is still, have any vaccine you are offered, certainly safer than not having it.
I agree, I take 4 tablets every day that are riskier than the AZ jab, I had a test today that had a 1 in 1000 risk of stroke compared to the 1 in millions for the AZ jab and I didn't even consider refusing.

Had my first jab on Friday 🥳

No ill effects beyond a sore arm.

I swam before my appointment and did a one hour bike workout six hours afterwards. Heart rate and core temperature all normal.  I even had a beer in the evening, as I’d had some shocking though unrelated news.

I've had my jab appointment through now. One of the builders next door is a few months younger than me and his appointment is 2 hours after mine so there must be some logic to the system. He also said that lots of his mates and people he knows are refusing to have the vaccine because of the misinformation going around on social media. As he said though they're chucking worse drugs into their bodies for a fun night out so why pass up a clinically tested drug? 3 million dead now and even with the vaccine roll out I'll be amazed if another million isn't added to that total, and that's just the official numbers.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It amazes me that people who will happily take 'recreational ' drugs or have tattoos will refuse a vaccine.

I understand what you are saying about recreational drugs, many prescription drugs have side effects too, one weighs up the benefits and makes an informed decision. Not sure what tattoos have got to do with anything though?
