Give people an inch and they'll take a mile, yes, but the government has been giving people a mile and hoping they'll just take an inch out of some sense of civic duty. Despite a demonstrably rising infection rate London was in tier 2 until about a week ago, meaning pubs and restaurants open. Folk were being encouraged to plan for a family Christmas essentially as normal. Many experts were warning about it.

There have been several days of articles about ringing and befriending lonely folk, thought I would do that, first off you have to have a smart phone and download the app, I haven't so cannot, what a shame, got my landline next to me here.
According to the Zoe tracker app the rates are through the roof, already higher than the previous peak in this part of London. My son in law said the other day, where previously he was hearing about this person or that one , now it's whole families at a time. ☹
Yes, I've known several people who have had it over the months since March, but one at a time. Plus a few people isolating due to contact. Now I know, or my kids know, at least 10-20 who have tested positive at any one time, including at the moment a family of four. Even higher numbers of people isolating, obviously. Not all in London though.
