The older members of family have vaccine appointments next week - hurray! Quick bit of maths though, that’s May until they have the recommended ‘cover’. I hope the general public will be patient... and not have fantasies of Easter gatherings.

New Zealand cannot be compared to the UK.
It's entire population is around half that of London.
Population density of NZ is 18 per Km2 where London is 5,701 per Km2
Even the density of the NZ capital Wellington is only 2,300 per Km2

@madpenguin   It's not about population - it's about how the government handled the situation.

So long as extending the time between doses doesn't allow for resistant mutations to occur
We are already doing that by giving people Covid antibody-rich plasma treatments.

I understood that treatment had been found not to improve recovery times etc so had been ceased.

I think they are still using in the US.. but only for moderate cases, not severe (where it is more likely to mutate).  All our local hospitals are advertising about being able to use it as a treatment, if you chose their one over the competition.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about virus mutation. The vaccine / plasma do not make a virus mutate. Viruses reproduce every 20 minutes or so, with literally thousands of mutations arising every day. Most of the mutations are actually harmful to the virus, but a very few offer it benefits in terms of increased spread, or resistance to drugs, vaccines etc.
you can never stop mutations, although not treating the virus ( duh ) would make a difference.
