Just got my jab this morning :)
Very quick and efficient at the local surgery. Government should have given the whole Covid control job, and the money, to the NHS, who know what they are doing, but then of course their chums wouldn't have got their snouts in the trough!
The NHS are doing well with the roll out, for sure. That they have the vaccines to roll out is not down to them

I'm sorry you're feeling so depressed about it all @pansyface and hope that you both get the vaccine soon and with no problems.   Remember to take a paracetamol before you go to minimise any reaction.   Works for me.

We know.  Lots of us are feeling that way @pansyface.

For light relief today I took the cats for their annual jabs.   New vet as t'other has changed jobs.   She was very good but it seems Cosmos is too fat.  It's been a long, cold, wet winter here so he's stayed in and been a luxurious cat and it shows.   Rations then.   Minstrel is, of course, purrfect.

Unless we get some sun and a walk on the beach that's it for outings so I can understand people going stir crazy.

Does this make any sense. My wife and I are the same age. I'm the carer for my wife who is disabled and needs a wheelchair to get anywhere which means I have to push her in it whenever we go out.

Due to her condition as a highly vulnerable person she has received a letter inviting her to make an appointment for the vaccination. We are the same age and of course live together. I have to take her to the vaccination centre so called to book the appointment for her and asked to have mine at the same time as if she's vaccinated and I get covid and end up in hospital there will be no one to take care of her. She cant cook, clean or do any of the day to day chores that we all take for granted.

The answer is no " Your not due for another two weeks" so cant have it at the same time.

I don't want to push anyone back in the queue, but given our situation and I'm sure that of many other couples who will be in the same situation am I being unreasonable to ask to have it at the same time as the wife to ensure I'm not going to catch it and end up in hospital and leave her to cope alone which in her condition she simply cant do?

Kili, I am in a very similar situation to you but just assumed I would have to wait the extra two or three weeks to get my vaccination. I can carry on living like an anchorite for that extra little time. What has given us perspective is watching nightly episodes this week of the Diary of Anne Frank - we don’t realise how lucky we are.

Incidentally, a friend told me on Monday of a friend of hers in Leicester who was invited to have her vaccination in Birmingham. It is a longish drive so she got someone else, presumably her partner, to drive her. On arrival he was offered the vaccine too.

I had a fake e-mail, also, it was in my Junk file, it wasn't as posh as the ones on here but it was addressed hi, then my e-mail address, assured Hubby it would have my name on it, then the following english language was very odd

My in-laws were told about a vaccine drop-in centre in Cardiff and drove down there to take a look. They gave my FIL the jab as he was over 70 but MIL wasn't allowed it as she wasn't quite old enough. She's on the vulnerable list due to chest problems but it was only done on age. I imagine this is the best way to get a large percentage of the population protected but it does seem to be missing quite a few of the most vulnerable.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Ah.. yes the Diary of Anne Frank. That does put my problem into perspective Ben I suppose it's just that it seems so illogical. I shall ask when I take the wife if not I'll wait my turn as although I'm asthmatic that is no longer considered high risk.

Not sure why though. Anyone of my age who's asthmatic would have been part of the Miracle that was the creation of the Ventolin inhaler. Prior to the creation of this medical device I remember gasping like a fish out of water for hours on end as a small child living in a damp flat then, to suddenly be called to hospital and given an inhaler I was free to play with my mates and take part in sports again at school just puffing on my inhaler when needed. This simple device changed the lives of millions of people, but the creators of this device never seemed to get the recognition they deserved.

Your right BenCotto. I shall try and be patient two weeks is not that long after 14 months of the lunacy we've all just been part of.

Correction. It seems the creator of the Ventolin inhaler was rewarded with a knighthood. His name was David Jack. More here if interested
