There were riots in the Netherlands too

Politics aside, anyone know why the Dutch police seem to be armed with laundry basket lids as riot shields?? :D

Ditto.  Less force?  Can't really do much damage banging into a protestor with a wicker shield.  Nice and light weight too.  Less intimidation?

Beware of fake emails regarding COVID vaccines
This came to me, it’s not genuine.

The NHS never send me emails, it's always texts. Almost always to confirm anappointment, cancel an appointment or ask me to phone the GP surgery. I think I'd be suspicious of anything different.

@Anna33 economics and practicality?   They grow an awful lot of willows in the Netherlands along all those canals and dykes and drainage ditches and they get pollarded or stooled every year depending on variety.  That would make a lot of willow withies for weaving and they'd be strong, lightweight and cheap to replace as well as biodegradable.  Win-win.

Other giveaways are no mention of age (it's well-publicised that our age is one of the main factors for when we'll get our jabs), and the tight time limit - that's to make people panic and respond without thinking it through. Particularly if it arrives late in the day and people think they have to reply before morning, no opportunity to contact their GP to check before the "deadline".

@pansyface I think you’d have smelled a rat when you found that clicking on it lead to a Payment Page 😡

My Dad in France was supposed to have his first jab yesterday but has now been told it will be next week instead with no reason for the delay.

They are short of vaccines @madpenguin.

As president of an association in a local town I receive info from the mairie to disseminate to the members, all aged 60 to 85.  Great excitement 2 weeks ago about registering for appointments for 75+.  2 days later all stop because the online appointment system had collapsed under the strain of demand and there aren't enough vaccines to match the demand.   Waiting for further news.
