My phone is incompatible with the app so I will just carry on as normal. I may have (or even possibly had) the virus with no symptoms. I will not be going for a test. The test centre here is 2 miles away but as I have no transport it would mean 4 separate bus journeys to get there and back. Not a good idea if you have symptoms and not much point if you have none. If I become very ill I would assume I would be hospitalised so tested there.
Exactly what I said a few pages back. 🙂

Said in the paper 40% of over 60's don't have a smart phone. Does anyone know where I can buy the very soft "flat" elastic like on the blue surgical masks. I have made lots of different masks, Hubby bought one, now wants masks like that. I made mine with thin shirring elastic, which goes through the side seams, have explained to him I can't do this with these shaped ones, the elastic would gather, it needs to be sewn on each side, they also have little sliders to adjust the size of the side straps. The "normal" flat elastic I have is very uncomfortable not soft or strechy enough. He has said about buying them I know they are as cheap as chips now. But I have already bought a lot of different material patterns, not wasting that. (especially as he's retired (mostly health related) is only just 63, so no pension.)
I must say that after wearing a large variety of masks, surgical, full FFP3 and homemade, that ALL the elastic straps are uncomfortable after a while. The ear-savers still allow rubbing on the tops of ears, which can be very painful. Maybe wrapping the elastic with gauze/wadding/material would help. Or taking the thin elastic off a couple of bought ones and applying to your homemade ones somehow?
Presumably you wear them at work Aunty, I dont find them uncomfortable in the main, have done barrier/reverse barrier isolation, when I started, your colleague would be doing up the 2 ties for you!!All I could find back at the beginning of the year was dressmaking elastic, and that is way too harsh, Dove (my savior) has done it again, Amazon and ordered plus a book for 1p!! That fell into my "basket" you understand!! My homemade ones, for the material were 50p each, the elastic with toggles cost £3.99
I'd like to know why people who wear lanyards/badges that make them exempt from wearing a face covering think that the distancing rules don't apply to them.
Had an encounter in the supermarket where a member of staff appeared next to me to 'tidy' the shelf.Rest of the aisle was empty. On asking her to move back as she wasn't wearing a mask she opened her jacket and flashed a badge at me saying, i have a badge ... And?
For anyone sporting a phone that doesn't anymore receive monthly security updates (running Android) it's a device that is not safe. Having anything before Android 9 is frankly insecure. It may seem like built in obsolescence but it's simply support by the software of the actual hardware in each device. Plenty of good phones for around £400 that will see you through for three years and will run the Covid app. Budgeted over the three years it will receive updates is not particularly onerous. Lots of brands to choose from Nokia, One Plus, Samsung and Google themselves. The app supports all the way down to version 6 which was released back in 2015.
I approached customer services @Dovefromabove but guess what, she wasn't wearing a mask either and as i was raging by then i thought it best to complain online.
